andrew3160 Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Name is Andrew, new to the site. I have been riding off and on for years, never really needed to buy my own quad but that opinion has changed. Made a trip out to the dunes a few months ago and I have the sand fever bad. Plan on purchasing a Banshee, from what I here they are a good choice for the sand and built a good name for its self. I found an 87 Banshee locally that comes with dirt and sand tires. Pretty fresh motor rebuild, replaced plastics, K&N pods, pro circuit pipes, new seat cover, aftermarket lights, Whip, shifts very nice, started right up, compression looks good. For $1300 The only thing that worries me is that it is an 87 even know they only made small changes to the banshee after that like J arm to A arm and a few others. Any advice would be good, I plan to modify the swing arm and prob to a YFZ 450 conversion to replace the J arms or at least switch to a Banshee A Arm setup. Thanks guys, Andrew Quote
papa_smurf49319 Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Sounds like a good deal, look it over really good, make sure frames not bent, hop on it and shake it around really good. Check the shocks and make sure there still good and not blown. Other than that sounds like a great deal. Oh check the trans oil to. Quote

Got on it and wobbled back and forth and you can tell the bushings will need to be replaced on the front, shocks look good, and maybe new bushings on the swing arm pivot bolt. Those all are pretty cheap to replace and I prob would have done it any way so that I knew it was done. Quote
locogato11283 Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 where are you located? i think you can probably find a better deal than that on something a little newer. also, i would stick with banshee a-arms on the bike. id stay away from the 450 front end conversion. Quote

I am from Olathe, KS about 40 min south of you. Live in Manhattan right now. Let me know if you know of anything. Not looking to spend over about 1300. Quote
