CHAN SNAPPED AND BROKE MY EFIN CASE

i hit a rock and thhe chain bound up and broke the case, its not that bad but right above the chain the case has a small crack idk wat to do leave it or start taking shit apart total rebuilt and lots of money FUCK

wll if your not leaking any oil or its just leaking a minute amount you can seal the hole with jbweld or a 2 part epoxy that hardens like steel(only a temp fix until you feel like taking it apart)

I recomend just taking it apart now cuz the piece the is missing form the hole could be int he motor.

i also recomend buying a case saver.

Unless you just have money laying around, an extra set of cases, or have been planning on doing some upgrading, do NOT go tearing it apart. Especially if its just broke/cracked on the section that the stator cover bolts to. I had a 98 banshee that had the entire section up over the front sprocket broke off, it looked like you took a hammer and broke it all off, and at the bottom, it made a crack that was down by the shift shaft, it leaked a little so I had it welded and it was good, Just my .02

I usually derail the chain on purpose a few times to break off all that unnecessary metal, it saves weight you know...

 

Seriously, if it's just a crack, brake clean the hell out of it, rough it up a little with a file or sand paper, and jbweld it.

thanks guys i had a warrior that had the same problem i had my father weld it aluminums a pain to weld too and wen i looked down at that i shit my pants and threw my helmet at tree broke the visor too lol im guna take a few pics and post them just soo you guys see what im talking about im still pretty pissed wtf anyone got a undercrash guard for sale

ya...my bottom case cracked and i stuck some jb on it....but im replacing the cases soo.....ya you will have to do it eventually

lets just say over time i decide to change the case what about the numbers on the case does it matter or can i get them transfered? how much is a new case? do banshees have 4 cases unlike the traditional 2 that split vertical?

I wouldn't worry about the numbers on the case, not a big deal. They are two, top and bottom and if its not leaking then its no biggie. You can find them on ebay

If you do replace the cases, MAKE SURE YOU BUY A MATCHING SET, not an individual top or bottom. Yamaha machines the cases as a set- the bores for the crank and transmission bearings are machined to dimension after the cases are bolted together. Some guys on here say they replace just a top or bottom and it works fine, but I would not want to take a chance on having more problems down the road that were caused by mismatched cases. Just my opinion.

I agree.

It's always better to buy a matched set. You can roll the dice and mis-match, but it's not worth the gamble to save a few bucks IMO.

Hey, at least u didn't smash your top and bottom case in the middle of a downpour in the dunes like I did a few years ago.... Had to do a full rebuild, etc etc etc..
