toddyfresh Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 So i split my case for the first time and took my time and replaced all the seals and i got it back together except the pistons and top end which i am waiting for the gaskets.. but anyways i have this not sure if it is a problem or the way its suppose to be.. If i turn the flywheel or the clutch basket it moves freely for a little bit and then get a little resistant to where you have to turn a little harder for a second and then its okay again for a little bit. I counted the turns on the flywheel and every like 2 3/4 turns it gets the resistance.. Not like you have to pry it but just a little more then regular turn.. I checked all the gears and the sprocket moves like it should.. i dont know if this is how it is suppose to be or not didnt check before i tore it down.. Again i just have connecting rods exposed no pistons or top end on yet Quote
bansheesandrider Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 Sounds like something is binding in the primary drive= between the crank gear and the clutch basket gear. It could be a damaged tooth on the clutch basket gear or the clutch basket could be wobbling because somrthing is not put together correct or the transmission mainshaft is bent. Did you wedge something between the gears to loosen the nuts on the varius shafts, this could have damaged a gear tooth? It should definetely turn smooth, also the ratio between the crank and clutch basket is somewhere between 2.68 and 2.75. Since it occurs about every 2.75 turns, that tells me that every time the clutch basket gets in the same position it is binding up- turn it until it binds and then mark the teeth on the basket that are touching the crank gear, remove the basket and inspect the teeth that you marked. toddyfresh Posted October 25, 2009 Author Report Posted October 25, 2009 Thanks man yeah I used a penny to hold gears. I see my clutch basket has a very slight burr. Barely noticeable but it's there. I guess I'm just gonna file it down a little bit. I'm gonaa order straight gears and a billet basket in summer so it's only gotta last a couple months. Thanks Quote
KlotzBanshee Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 Ummm...If you have the stator and flywheel on it will do that. Its the magnetic pull from the flywheel. Pull the flywheel off and if it still does it then you have a problem. Quote
toddyfresh Posted October 25, 2009 Author Report Posted October 25, 2009 I didn't think the burr was that bad. Does anyone else say it will do that? Now I'm lost Quote

Pull the flywheel off and if it still does it then you have a problem. If it was from the flywheel/stator it would do it EVERY REVOLUTION IN THE SAME PLACE not every 2.75 revolutions. The 2.75 revolutions is what tells me it was the primary gears. Edited October 25, 2009 by bansheesandrider Quote
