crustydemon Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Do you just tighten it enough to take up the play? There is no way to set arm to the arrow on the case. Quote
RadarRacing Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Do you just tighten it enough to take up the play? There is no way to set arm to the arrow on the case. It has nothing to do with the lever or play in the cable. It does align or adjust the arm to the arrow on the case. Make sure you have it installed right, they are wierd to adjust. You have to back off the jam nut and adjust the black screw in the middle till the arm aligns to the arrow. Then make sure you have an 1/8th of and inch of play in the cable on the handlebar clutch lever. Quote

crustydemon Posted October 23, 2009 Author Report Posted October 23, 2009 I meant the play or slack between the ball-bearing/adjuster-pressure plate. Quote
Rodneya Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 First loosen the cable adjuster at the clutch perch. Put the clutch together without springs or screws and hold the pressure plate in position with your hand. Turn the adjuster until the pressure plate starts to move. Back off a quarter turn and tighten the locknut and you are good to go. Just ignore the arrow thing on the cases. Your clutch will work fine. Some guys get obsessive about the arrow lining up, just like they blame TORS for everything. There have been posts before about the Cascade adjuster being too short. Mine is from HJR, and it uses the original adjuster screw. You have to take the pressure plate off to lock the adjuster, and doing it this way works great. Quote
crustydemon Posted October 23, 2009 Author Report Posted October 23, 2009 Well I think I got it in right. Most of my problem was that I put a different perch on and the adjuster on that was alot shorter than the yamaha one so I put the longer one in and it seems to be ok. I still wish it was a little longer. My main concern is that I didnt know how tight against the pressure plate the bearings should be when the cluch is engaged. I set it so it is just barely touching it(like zero lash)but not be loose. Hope it works because its all buttoned up now. Quote
