Belal4242 Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Hey guys, how's everyone doing? So get this, I drained my Banshee's transmission fluid today to change it and get it prepped for the desert this weekend and low and behold... there's DEFINITELY a couple of swirls of my lovely dark amber 2-stroke oil in the drain pan sitting on top the transmission fluid. Unlike the Blaster you have to split the case to change the crank seals don't you on the Banshee? Or does anyone else have any idea how 2-stroke oil is getting into my transmission housing? This ever happen to anyone else? Any input would be great at this point. I'm going to go ahead and run it this weekend (it was doing great last season) but I'll start pulling the top end apart next week. Needs it anyway. But yeah, am I going to have to split the case too probably? Thanks guys!! Quote

That will tell you if your crank seals are leaking or not without splitting the cases. Quote
Belal4242 Posted October 23, 2009 Author Report Posted October 23, 2009 Lol well it's getting in there somehow haha. You're right though, I'm going to buy one and use in the next week or two and see what's up. I KNOW I didn't pour any of my 2-stroke oil in there the last time I did the tranny fluid, bout halfway through last season. Somehow, it's getting in there. Quote
Burt Reynolds Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 (edited) Does your oil smell like gas too? Unless you have some major wierd problem i wouldnt worry about it. If the kicker side crank seal is bad,it will usualy only suck tranny oil into the cylinder. If you have a totaly murdered crank seal i could see some premix oil/and gas leaking the other way. But i have never seen a crank seal leak gas/oil into the tranny and not be leaking the other way as well. And if it was leaking the other way your quad would run like shit and you would be fouling plugs all over the place Edited October 23, 2009 by Burt Reynolds Quote
