Big Boy Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Some cheap upgrades are boost bottle! It's supposed to mixs the air and fuel together! Like 50$. Cool heads with a little higher compresion! 22cc domes are your stock so you would probably be safe with 20-19cc domes! I've found that an adjustable timing plate makes the biggest cheapest diffrence! With doin this you must run race fuel to avoid detonation! Wich is bad! It only took me two times of rebuilding my bike to learn that this was the cause! I know not smart! I now run 50/50 and no problems! Just put a heavy duty clutch in it for my dune trip tonight and let me tell you, way better than stock!!!! Also on the timing plate don't use a timing key or welded both seem to brake at the worst time! If you can go with a billet one! +5 is all the father you can go with out a bigg risk of engine damage but i highly recomend just going three and runing race to see how it runs! BE CAREFULL not to take your timing past +5 or BANG! the timing is based of the seem were your cases are spilit and are under your fly wheel! You will need a special puller to get it off as well as an impact wrench! Start with those and see how it feels! Oh ya and i've found that the V-fore3 reeds are a boost in power as well! They go well with the t5s! Good luck with your build! Quote

Forget about a boost bottle, dont run 19cc domes on pump gas unless u are way above sealevel and you can go above +5 on the timing without going boom.lol Get you a noss head or simlar and if you get you cranking pressure above 155psi run race gas a good port job from someone that knows what they are doing and you will be on a good start and a adjustable timing plate is a good mod for the money. Along the way you will want to get that crank trued and welded. Goodluck Quote

First off what kind of riding will you be doing? Dune, Trail? Second off 20cc domes may still be to much for regular gas for a cool head. Timing is a very cheap mod. Cast plate is around $40 and depending on what you want to spend porting will be a very significant increase. Quote

Cast plate is around $40 and depending on what you want to spend porting will be a very significant increase. i guess just like general riding, street, some trails some dirt lots and stuff i ride in different places in the NY/NJ PA areas and its always different kinda riding everywhere we go. looking for some more low end speed. i dont understand what domes are and what their function is if someone can explain please. Also i see people say they have a 4mill bike, what does that mean ? my bike seems to have some slight boggin in 1st gear, it seems like it is choking on take off , almost as if theres no air getting in, im not a mechanic but thats what went through my mind when i take off. even before ieven read about banshees thats what i though could be the problem. i have a 2to1 carb i was thinking getting a bigger carb and a boost bottle maybe can get some more air in there? i dunno. thanks for any help u guys recommend i really appreciate it Quote

alf44 Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Welcome dude. U can def. bump your timing up too +4 with no worries. DO NOT WAST MONEY ON BOOST BOTTLE! There worthless and do absolutely nothing. Do you have a k&n filter on it? You can get a coolhead or just shave yours a bit. theres several makes of heads out there. Reeds are a great investment also, but the best bang for your buck is going too be a good port job based on your riding style. I run the 2-1 carb setup and like it. Hit me up if you need any parts. Im a modquad and rocky mt. atv dealer and I offer great deals too all members. Make sure too check out all the site sponsors as well. You have definantly come too the right place for all your banshee needs. Stick around and ask questions and listen in before spending a ton of $$$. Have fun. Quote

Good luck with your build! not to be a dick, but i think you need to read up a little more on preformance mods before you try and give advice. advancing your timing more than 5 degrees isnt going to blow your motor, theres a reason you can advance and retard it 10 degrees. also, boost bottles dont do anything for performance. and chill on the exclamation marks!!!!!!!!! lol technyne, like drewski suggested, do some searching/reading. theres loads of info on here that'll help you figure out what will work well with the type of riding you do. to start you off, i would suggest buying an adjustable timing plate and running it at +4 degrees. depending on how deep your pockets are you can buy a cool head and throw in a set of smaller domes (the smaller you go the higher your compression will be and the higher octane fuel you will need to run) or you can just have your stock head milled. and as for the bog on bottem end, theres no need to buy a bigger carb, all you need to do is change your jetting. oh and, welcome to BHQ!! First off Welcome. Next do you know what type and size carb you have. You said you have a 2 into 1. The person that recommended a boost bottle doesn't know about the 2 into 1 not being able to accept those. And boost bottles are junk. You can check out one of the sponsors like F.A.S.T.. Jeff is an outstanding person that will get you off in the right direction. Quote
RagunCajun Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 You dont needa mod anything on your bike. Just change the tranny oil if it hasnt been done recently. Chech the compression and go riding. Enjoy it. There's no need to get balls deep in porting and doing other mods. Suspension would be a nice mod to do but can get pricey. Easy to do since it's just taking the old and putting on the new. Quote
quaddad817 Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 my advise to you is to do some home work and decide how fast you want to go and what type of riding you want to do ! there are several veterain shee guys on hear and they are aesy to find! i completly rebuilt my motor top and bottom! trans gears, bearings, pistons, rings, bore, cool head, 20 cc domes, and on and on and after taking it on 1 trip to the dunes i decided it wasent fast enough for me! so im tearing a completly rebuilt motor with 4 hrs on it down and throwing a couple more grand at it. i wish i did this the first time i could have save 700-1000$ Quote
00sheerzr Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 i bought my quad mostly stock with a boost bottle evn tho everyone seems to tink they are trash but hey i didnt pay for it and someone slapped dg mufflers on it , plus a k&n filter and i dont know why you would need to go faster unless your drag racing your guna get hurt with tooo much power thats just me but pipes and a few mods would be cool Quote
