crustydemon Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Trying to put a new clutch in right now and looking at the clymer it says seat your cushion ring against back of clutch boss bla bla and repeat instaling the remaining cushion rings.frictions,plates.Problem is there are no cushion rings in it,wtf? Then I got a pancake bearing and as retarded as it may be I dont know how to put it in. Looks like it just sticks out the pressure plate with nothing holding it in other than pressure from the rod/ball? Quote
toddyfresh Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 from what ive seen alot of aftermarket clutches dont use the rings and as far as the bearing goes i believe it goes washer pressure plate washer on other side of plate and then nut Quote
crustydemon Posted October 22, 2009 Author Report Posted October 22, 2009 Thats kind if what I was thinking on the clutch but I wasnt sure. Thats how the stock adjuster goes but I got the cascade one with the torrington bearing so Im quite sure it goes washer-bearing-washer on the back of the pressure plate but its just different on the outside of the plate so I wanted to make sure, It didnt come with any directions but mabey they figured if you needed them you shouldnt be putting it in anyway. Sandfrk33 Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Pancake bearing from cascade doesn't bolt to the pressure plate, it spins freely. It sits against the ball and the plate holds it in place. Seems funny, but that is how it helps. The stock adjuster spins with the pressure plate and causes alot of friction. Thats how they weld together. As far as the cushion rings, they are only on the stock clutch plates. Hope this helps Quote
