toolucky Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Just installed a new Hinson basket with Straight cut gears and the bike runs great, but is it normal for the straight cut gears to make noise? It sounds almost like a whistling noise kinda kinda like a super charger LOL . Just wondering if any of you are expeirencing this with those gears. Quote
Whitbread Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Sounds something like this? That's the music of straight cuts Quote
papa_smurf49319 Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 i dont have any experience with straight cuts in a banshee, but straight cuts in there nature do make noise, thats just the nature of the beast. There strong as hell, but do make some noise. Post up a vid so people who do have them can tell you if the noise is excessive or not. Cody Quote
JMADD Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I haven't noticed straight cuts on any of mine being louder than stock. That being said; I read the the stock gear is helical cut because of the decreased noise (as opposed to straight cut), as it was originally on a street bike (RZ), where noise would be more noticeable.
