ws6klr Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 Hello everyone. Im kind of a noob to banshees, Ive owned one for about a year now. My question is this. I burried it in mud yeterday to the crank case. I got my warrior and pulled it out, checked the oil for water and the airbox also. It started right up and drove home. About 20minutes later i started it up and went to drive it , but it wont rev out now. Its like it wont come on to the pipe. It runs great starts right up every time but its balls are gone, any ideas on were to start would be very appreciated. Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 Take everything appart from the air filter to the carbs and flush everything clean with carb cleaner. I like B12 Chem dip. Clean all your electricals and even check the flywheel and stator.. Don't want any moisture in there. Quote
ws6klr Posted October 10, 2009 Author Report Posted October 10, 2009 Cool, Ill try that first thing in the morning. Thanks Quote
Larry's Shee Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 X-2 on cleaning everything well. Check tors. My son flipped his into a REAL DEEP mud hole and I'm still in the process of putting it back together. Spent over two hrs. just cleaning the crank. Also check all electrical connections. Quote
sinisterboo Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 I would use the warrior for muddin from now on, cause if it gets stuck you can leave it, and not look back. A dry banshee, is a happy banshee. Take the stator cover off, and clean it out. The stator wiring is great about letting water it, and not letting it out..... After you clean all that out, fill that black rubber seal around the wires full of silicone to waterproof it.... Quote
AKheathen Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 you should clean the carbs/stator just because the water and such could pose a major problem later. however, you likely messed up the ebrake wiring, which turns on the rev limiter. unplug the wires that go to the clutch lever and it should start to rev out like normal. carb cleaning should be done every couple months anyways.. there's always water and setament in there when i do mine Quote
ws6klr Posted October 11, 2009 Author Report Posted October 11, 2009 Yea, my intentions werent to go muddin, the mud found me lol. Hit a sharp corner in the woods in 3rd, it was to late to slow down. Damn this ohio weather, F it im movin out west so me and the banshee can be happy together lol. Quote
99bansheeboy Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 yo...maybe your low on gas....because i know when im low theres no balls...maybe you lost fuel when you were in ? Quote
ws6klr Posted October 11, 2009 Author Report Posted October 11, 2009 Ok, is it possible that the cdi or coil is bad and how to test them. Ive cleaned the carbs, the stator was dry, and the e brake has been disconected since i got it. I also disconeccted the tors box. Plugs are good but the spark is really light yellow not a bright spark like i would expect. Still starts and runs great, but wont come on powerband. Any other ideas before i take it to the stealer. robert.b.west Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 Check you air filter, when it wont come on to power it alot of times means it cant get enough air. See if it is wet (check the bottom of it). Quote

Yeah i have advise, save your money from the stealership, buy a clymers manual. it sounds like an electrical problem.. what i would do is start unpluging every plug and cleaning it... then the clymers will tell you what the stator should ohm out at. If you still cant get it, but a stator and cdi off someone one here or ebay Quote
ws6klr Posted October 20, 2009 Author Report Posted October 20, 2009 Thanks to everyone for the help. I took the carbs and all associated parts off and cleaned them and took them apart. Got it back together, and now it does the opposit. It revs out nice and hard to the top, but wont idle or run under a quarter throttle un less i constantly pump the throttle. Any ideas. Thanks. Quote

Sounds like your carbs are just super gunked up and when u cleaned them your just moving the crap in them around... i would take them out and take all the jets out and take a really samll gage wire and poke them all out espeshally your pilot jets and sray them and everything with carb cleaner (if you havnt done all this already) also use a air compressor with a small hose attachment or something and blow it out with all the jets out that will get any thing floating aroundin there. because your idle and to about 1/4 throttle has to deal mostly with your pilot jets..
