2fastinthepast Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 I changed out my swing arm to a 4" over and have gone through 3 rear sprockets since. I bought an x-ring chain and new sprokets when I made the swap so it was all new. I made sure everything was lined up and when I am under power on a hill ( mostly in the sand ) my chain skips and bends the teeth over. Is it possible the swing arm is out of whack with the geometry? HELP!!!!!! Quote
sleeper06 Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Its definatly possible,or hub is bent Quote
2fastinthepast Posted September 1, 2009 Author Report Posted September 1, 2009 The hub for the sprocket seems true, chain is adjusted so that I have 1/2" of play with me sitting on the bike and the carrier bearings are new. My new steel sprocket looks like a chinese star at the end of my ride..........HELP! Quote
Building my First Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 What size chain are you using? Not the length but the pitch and width. 420, 428, 520, 530,.... Quote
alf44 Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Ive had the same problem and I just tighten my chain up a bit more and it solves it for awhile. your using a 520 chain right. Quote
2fastinthepast Posted September 2, 2009 Author Report Posted September 2, 2009 I am running a 520 DID X-Ring chain with JT 41 tooth rear sprocket and a 14 tooth front. Any tighter wont hurt the trans bearings? I am running with a group of guys running eBay 80.00 chains with no problems. WTF? Quote
