Wheelie Ripper Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 Hi, I was wondering if i should continue running straight avgas or if i should mix 50/50 with 93 pump gas. My mods are as follows. Bored .040 over, cool head with 170 psi compression on both cylinders, +5 timing, paul turner mid range pipes. My elevation is 450 feet above sea level. Also does my jetting sound alright, im running 300 mains, 30 pilots? Thanks for your help Quote

Some people will say don't run it but to his, his own. Quote
dirtydownunder Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 i run straight avgas aswell, with 160odd psi of comp and +4 timing @sea level. its been running great and the stuff im using is OLD as. 5 gallons left out of 44 haha. Quote
Snopczynski Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 You should be able to run 50/50 high octane pump, and 110 race gas. Quote
Wheelie Ripper Posted August 27, 2009 Author Report Posted August 27, 2009 Thanks for the replies, i know i am safe running the avgas, but wasn't sure if i could squeeze some more power out of it by going 50/50. Does anyone know what the max compression is for avgas?? Quote
slopoke Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 Av gas is way cheaper and is way better than a 50/50 mix. Quote
SAVAGE420 Posted August 27, 2009 Report Posted August 27, 2009 (edited) Av gas is way cheaper and is way better than a 50/50 mix. Ive been running in in sleds for 7-8 years or longer. Been running it straight with Amsoil Interceptor 40:1 for 2 years now in my banshee and its been great, also really cheep and easy to get here too. Edited August 27, 2009 by savage420 Quote
glassjawjm Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Your pilot sounds good, but the main might be a little lean, I'm at sea level and had to run 320 in stock Carbs, with the same mods, I run straight 100LL at 40:1. I would say that 320 were on the rich side but not by much, hardley ever fouled plugs. I would rather b rich then leAn, how does it run?? HoW do your plugs look? Quote
SAVAGE420 Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Well you know what they say...Lean is mean and rich is a bitch Quote
glassjawjm Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Well you know what they say...Lean is mean and rich is a bitch Fuck it!!! Throw some 220's in there, let's see how long it would take to blow it up. you don't really need gas, just alot of air, better yet just take your Carbs right off, throw them out. Let's us know how she runs then:) if it doesn't just load it In a truck and have some one drive you around as you sit on it and make engine noises. Quote
Havok248 Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Do you guys just go to your local airport to get the AV gas or what? Quote

AKheathen Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 i buy 100ll @ the pump and mix it 50/50 with 90 oct. i'm running 20cc domes with stock porting/stroke, +5 timing, and it does make a little more power thn strait 100oct. what domes/stroke porting are you running? also, we can't give you jetting suggestions without knowing what pipes, what airbox setup, elevation, and temps.
