Banshee23! Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 What is the proper method for testing the compression on a banshee? Is it just a matter of removing 1 spark plug and turning the motor over? Thanks. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 warm your motor to operating temp. Remove one plug and tighten the tester. Make sure you use the long threaded adaptor or the reading will be off. pull the spark plug cap off the other side so it will not fire. Hold the throttle wide open and kick it over until the needle stops moving. It will usually takes 10 or 15 kicks to get it to completly stop moving. Do the same for both sides, as long as you are within 10 psi then your good. stock a banshee should make about 125 psi, anything under 110 or so your ready for a rebuild. Quote
Banshee23! Posted August 17, 2009 Author Report Posted August 17, 2009 Currently, my clutch side cover is off. The clutch basket is removed. Trying to troubleshoot a kick starting issue. Can you perform the test by just turning the crankshaft nut and doing everything else you mentioned? The motor would just be air temp. Quote
