1998BansheeHD Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 Right now i have a stock stroke shee with VF 2 reeds, 2-1 intake with a 33pwk. Stock bore, fmf knarly pipes with power core 2 silencers.+4 timing. I mainly ride on trails and a little hill climbs. This setup is ok but the topend has cleared 160 hours+ and i inspected the pistions and they are pretty bad with a little play. Just looking for a little more power. What else can i do that wont hurt the pocket but add a little more hp? any suggestions welcome Quote
hercalmighty Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 Do you have a certain amount in mind that you want to spend? That will help us give you some ideas Quote
1998BansheeHD Posted July 11, 2009 Author Report Posted July 11, 2009 hmm prolly around 600-700 Quote
hercalmighty Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 Ok is that on top of the cost of the rebuild or is that the grand total you have for everything? Im going to say some port work and either a shaved head or a cool head and some domes. Also maybe look at some suspension upgrades instead of motor upgrades. You can do a YFZ front swap for a decent price and it will be a world of difference Quote
1998BansheeHD Posted July 11, 2009 Author Report Posted July 11, 2009 that's the max i would spend... Not sure if the porting would be fundable. Im already looking into yfz a-arms.. Will they work with works dual rate shocks? Also is weisco a reliable gasket and piston company? also may look into a head. But theres a couple different brands. The bike should have great low-mid power with just a hone or bore top end. Would a set of pipes give me better topend? Right now its a single carb which explains the bottom end and the mid but will a set of pipes with bigger expansion chamber help? Quote
hercalmighty Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 As far as porting goes, check some of the sponsors on here for prices. You should be able to get a topend, bore and hone, and a port job for 700. Yes weisco is reliable. Yeah a different set of pipes would open up the topend. Also a different set of carbs would help out the topend. You can go all different ways with your build. I ride a lot of tight trails and some hillclimbs. I build a 4mil dune port motor with CPI's and keihin pwk 28 carbs. The thing rips in the woods considering it is geared towards more of a wide open/dune bike. Yes the works dual rates will work with the YZF arms but you will probably have to have them revalved for the extended arms. Quote
1998BansheeHD Posted July 11, 2009 Author Report Posted July 11, 2009 Got ya thanks for the insight. Its not gonna happen right now but i need to get all my eggs in the basket so i can come up with a total for the winter. Which is right around the corner eh... Quote
locogato11283 Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 for 700 you should be able to get it rebuilt and ported.. i say go that route. and personally, ive seen the 450 a arm setups and i dont like them on a banshee. i recommend staying with banshee arms and aftermarket shocks. Quote
