gbody Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 What are the stock sprockets on a 98 banshee... depends on the year 87-89 13/42 90-06 14/41  Quote
1998BansheeHD Posted July 9, 2009 Author Report Posted July 9, 2009 Ok thanks! What would be the difference in a stock 14 upfront and a 42 in the rear? Quote
locogato11283 Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Ok thanks! What would be the difference in a stock 14 upfront and a 42 in the rear? what do you mean? try using this gearing calculator to see different speeds at different gear ratios.. http://home.earthlink.net/~gellett/banshee.htm Quote
1998BansheeHD Posted July 9, 2009 Author Report Posted July 9, 2009 Hmmm how to put it.... Would this make me accelerate faster and just lower my topend or the opposite, Accelerate a little slower but have a greater topend? Quote
locogato11283 Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 going up in the rear gears the bike down. it will give you less top end speed. gearing is not the only factor to acceleration so you cant use it as a deciding factor. tires, riding surface, rider weight, mods etc. all play a part in acceleration. 1998BansheeHD Posted July 9, 2009 Author Report Posted July 9, 2009 Gotcha i was j/w my bike right now has 22" upfront and 20" in the back... The bike was like this when i bought it. Quote
dco3100 Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Hmmm how to put it.... Would this make me accelerate faster and just lower my topend or the opposite, Accelerate a little slower but have a greater topend? a larger rear sprocket makes u gain acceleration/loose top end, as a smaller rear sprocket makes u loose acceleration/gain top end. I would suggest sticking with the stock 14 front sprocket and play with the rear only, ive been playing with sprockets for a while and I love the 14 front. What are you looking for more topend or acceleration? and what type of riding do you do, any drag? Quote
1998BansheeHD Posted July 9, 2009 Author Report Posted July 9, 2009 Im looking for quicker acceleration... Less topend. Where i ride i dont use it and i mainly ride on trails and some mild hillclimbs. Little drag but no one around here as a 4poke to keep up Quote

gbody Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 14/42 would give you a bit more accel. Quote
