papa_smurf49319 Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Well im sending my stuff out today for a bore and hone, crank welded, some sort of aggresive trail port, some new wisecos, shees at .030 now, and possibly get the head milled. Im sending the stuff to Jim at passion. Question is what kind of power increase should i be expecting? Has everyone had good experiences with Jim? As is bike has a adjustable timing plate and ricky stator, some boysean reeds, new vitos stock stroke crank, uni proflow setup, and a billet impellar. Also putting on some old school fmf pipes. Any help is appreciated, also wondering about ballpark jetting, but ill probably discuss that with Jim. Quote
dajogejr Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 You're gonna find fans on both sides of the fence. I can tell you a good friend of mine praises his customer service...and he's made quite a few people happy. Just as important, ask him what his realistic turn around time is as well. Talk to him regarding what kind of power to expect. It's his work, the rest of us are just guesstimating. Quote

NN2 Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 I'll second that. He has good customer service but don't plan on getting your cylinders back over night. Especially during the summer months. I sent mine in February and got them back in mid April. He did do a good job though. At least it looks nice. Havent got to ride it yet. Quote
RagunCajun Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Did you talk to him before you decided on sending him your juggs? He should of told you the power estimates and worked with you on set up etc. Quote
Thewhite Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 I sent my RZ350 barrrels to Jim last week for his 12 port design, at this time of the year the leadtime is around 5 weeks for cylinder porting. I suggest to call him before to take any decision (don't use the email he always prefer a phone call). When I call him two weeks ago to have some info on his type of porting, I was very impressed. He will built your engine for exactly whats your prefered riding style and he will also design you your dome (the stock dome design aren't the best for all applications). The piston kit is very cheap and it come with all the required gasket and cool head oring. My RZ350 cylinders have power valve, he will built me a trail-dune bike with a very good top end and a very strong bottom. You don't buy an already designed porting job, he will design the porting by your riding style. I sent my cylinder to Jim in Oklaoma from Montreal (Canada): you won't be disapointed of his work and knowledge !! Quote

You should have called him and asked him all of this he's the one that knows his work ive already spoke with him many times, i just wanted some opinions from you guys. I also havnt spoke with him on jetting yet, so i figured id see what you guys thought. I would never box up my stuff and send it to someone without speaking to them first. Quote

wesw Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 dont see it happening with your pipes and carbs. could make that power but not with that setup. just being honest. Quote
Thewhite Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 (edited) dont see it happening with your pipes and carbs. could make that power but not with that setup. just being honest. I looked your dyno result for a 4 mil with 73 hp on Rocket pipe. I never saw that pipe, what kind is it (power vs RPM) and what kind of porting Passion did on your juggs ? The stock canadian RZ350 make 60 hp with two stock 26 mm Mikuni carb !!! I was sure by installing my PWK 28 (oval bore 28x30), V-Force 2, RZ juggs ported by Passion, case ported, boost ported piston with a good timing curve and power valve opening it will make 10 hp over for a total of over 70 hp ... Do you recommend me some PWK 33 carbs for that ? I like people who challenge me, for my info: what power to do guess with that current set-up ? thanks Edited July 28, 2009 by Thewhite Quote
