TeamRealtreeHD Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Ever since I installed this cub, the exhaust mounting is much lower than the stockers. Therefore, shifting the pipe and where they will run throughout the length of the bike. Needless to say, I got these Trinitys on and with thanks to Permatex, they are nice and snug. Problem though... the pod filters do not have much room. The left side is touching, but the right isn't (touching the exhaust that is). I just got my black outerwears today, put them on, and now I have the oputerwears in danger. Correct me if I am wrong, but I remember seeing here in the past where there was some kind of tape, a heat tape of some sort, to wrap around the exhaust for situations like mine here. Is this right? If so, where do I get it? Quote

Dont try the tape, its a waste of money"been there, done that"go on cascades web page and under exhaust it will say heat wraps.you can see some of them on my motor pic. Quote
NYUK Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 i just zip tie the filters and outterwears away from the pipes. just loop 2 long zip ties around them both. Quote
sandman81 Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 I had the same problem with my shearer. All I did was get a some rubber hose cut it, then wrapped around my pipe and zipped tied, worked great. Quote

wacko2000 Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 (edited) ^^^^^ X2 I have these on my bike and they are great. No worries, they can rest right up against the stingers and will not melt or ruin your outerwears. Buy them, they are worth Are your pods straight or angled? http://67.199.65.66/cascade_innovations/ne...ore_dept_id=168 Edited June 30, 2009 by wacko2000 Quote
xXBlessedWithDeathXx Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 Dont use that $14 shit from Auto Zone tony. my pipes ate threw the tape and got the outerwares. i was kinda pissed about it but i went the cheaper way and got fucked in the end. Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted June 30, 2009 Author Report Posted June 30, 2009 Not sure what I want to so here... those heat araps look bulky as heck. I thought there was some kind of tape to use, but if I need to get the heat wraps, I will. Quote

I thought there was some kind of tape to use, but if I need to get the heat wraps, I will. The reason behind the Cascade sleeves being the way to go is that you need to have an air gap between the tube and whatever is touching it..... If you just use tape or header wrap, you will still transfer most of the heat to whaterever is touching the pipe. :geek: Quote
Darthwall Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 If you get the ceramic high heat tape for dragsters it would work I have only tried it on muscle cars and it works great if you get the pre made wraps they have with the shiney outer cover it does work but only for an amount of time I have used it at work on a propane torch that spits out about 150 gallons a day. it works for a while but use the header wrap that doesnt look preaty and you wrap it good couple of layers Quote
bonbon Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 I have good luck with the header wrap. I got it at either autozone or checkers. It's not burning up my outerwears and the header wrap is holding up fine. It keeps the heat in the pipe a lot better. Quote
TeamRealtreeHD Posted June 30, 2009 Author Report Posted June 30, 2009 Seems like mixed results here... Quote
