dco3100 Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 (edited) I just changed my oil and it looks like there aluminium chips like metallic paint in the oil.On second oil change of new clutch.Tusk clutch with heavy springs. I had the same problem a while back. Your gonna have to pull that side cover off, when u do, check all your teeth on your crank gears and clutch gear as well. One of the teeth from my crank gear broke loose and I guess bounced around in there eating away at my clutch cover . I honestly wouldnt run the bike until you take a look, you may have more damage than I did, even though that may not be your problem, but anytime theres loose metal floating around... not good. Let me know! Edited June 25, 2009 by dco3100 Quote
black sunshine Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 If it truly looks like metallic paint it could be your clutch fiber plates. Maybe this is normal with a new clutch? IDK Quote
kawa110 Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 if it looks more like metal flake then metal chunk and your oil looks more grey then brown or red most likly its the clutch plates. If the oils smells REALLY bad then its hte clutch plates. Was ther chunks? was ther pieces stuck to the drain bolt? Does the bottom end sound like something is broken? If you dont hear any noise and its opertaing normally, check the oil after next good ride and see how it looks. Quote

This may be a stupid question but how long has it been since you changed it last. Sound like normal wear on the clutch especially if its been a while for the oil change. Quote
jbones Posted June 26, 2009 Author Report Posted June 26, 2009 No metal chunks that i could feel rubbing the oil in my fingers or see . The drain plug i wiped with my finger and was gray. I think it had about maybe 5 hours on it before oil change. But last ride i had a kid on a 250r that thought he could beat me he was wrong.Three straight drags three straight wins he is 0 -6 vs the original 1987 banshee also beat up on a 660 raptor 1985 atc 250r 1984 atc 250 tecate all in the same race . I think my oil issue is clutch wear i hope!! it look like metal flake .Also last ride no noises or problems ran great. Thanks for info everybody that replied. Quote
