Im brand new to the site and looking for some advice. im not new to the bike but its been about 15 yrs so the memories a bit fuzzy. i have a few Q's. (1) What does a reed spacer do? (2) what reeds work best with stock motor and stock cages? (3) Does a boost bottle really help? (4) looking to create better low end power...how? These Q's might seem small and i realize you get what you pay for but im really on a budget right now Thanks to everyone who can help. VP

1-Lifts the carbs up to clear the clutch cable, when you get bigger cabs.

2-Boyeson,I suppose

3-Nope

4-Add some timing,

What kind of pipes are you running?

They are primarily for helping aftermarket carburetors clear the clutch actuation lever

Well you mentioned your looking for a more low-end setup so I would go with the Boyessen 2 stage reed setup.

(3) Does a boost bottle really help?

No no no no NO! Pretend that no one ever invented them.

(4) looking to create better low end power...how?

Like you said your not looking to spend a whole bunch, so the 2 stage reeds can help, get some used pro circuit pipes, mill your head, and a adjustable timing plate can really get you going for not a whole lot. E-bay and the classified section on here will become your friend.

I already have T-5's so i will look into the rest especially the milling and the timing plate. Adjusting the timing affects the power one way or the other right? so when i adjust the timing to tune in the low end i am sacrificing the top end? i found an accutec cool head for $100 (not sure if thats a good brand) and i need to figure out what size domes to run. I appretiate all of your advice. thanks

I found, and im not by myself on this one, that when you install reed spacers your reeds tend to respond alot quicker to full throttle, basically letting the so called "powerband" come on a bit sooner
