x_doug_x Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 (edited) cylinder heads are in machine shop and the pistons machine shop told me to order came in today. as soon as i bring pistons to shop i'll prob. be putting it back together first things first, the reeds, do they have any type of adjustment? i got a pair from someone on here and it looks like the reeds were flipped over. i can see marks on them that look like the marks where they were closing if they had not been flipped, as well as they both have a small gap where they are not completely closed on the read cage. second, most importantly. the piston rings. do the ring openings go opposite from eachother on each piston? ps. i don't have a repair manual. so thats why i'm here asking, and i have searched the forums and didn't find a topic that stated if they went opposite or just about a inch away from eachother. x_doug_x Posted June 24, 2009 Author Report Posted June 24, 2009 You can flip reed pedals over, many people do it,safe bet is get new pedals they dont last forever please help, i got the cylinder heads bolted down, however both base gaskets had a blue rubber gasket on them. and it was the same on both gaskets and you can't flip a gasket over. so my left cylinder has the blue gasket facing down the right cylinder has it facing up, anyone know anything about this? Ieat4strokes Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 (edited) Man i remember when i did my first rebuild as well, call local shop going off telling him cometic gave me 2 of the same base gaskets, he said breathe damnit, just flip it over, i flt like a dumbass but i didnt know lol...... as for the coolhead they do allow the motor to run cooler but the awesome thing is the ability to replace the domes in them to bump your compression up, its like being able to change to higher compression piston in a 4 stroke on the fly. edit: kubitza gotta smokin deal in the forsale section $100, but youll need a set of domes. RK350 Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 Try tapping on the left carb float bowl with a wrench or small hammer, sometimes when you remove the carbs the float sticks. mine did that last time i rebuilt my engine Quote
