Flyinacez Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 (edited) Hey guys, I have a 2001, it just died one day and will not start. I'm no mechanic and was gonna sell it as a roller or part it out. The kick start does not move at all. Is that typical of a bad crank? I got curious today and pulled the cylinder head off. I was able to move the pistons up and down, albeit difficult. Both cylinder walls are smooth and the pistons seemed ok. When I drained the oil it had aluminum looking shavings. Any ideas as to the problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Edited June 17, 2009 by Flyinacez Quote
dajogejr Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Your trans oil and the combustion chamber are 100% separate. Remove the right side of the motor where the clutch is at. Start there. Quote
locogato11283 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 prolly just broke your kickstart gear. its prolly a cheap simple fix. not your crank if the pistons will move freely. Quote

I will look into that this weekend. Would that cause the bike to quit running though while cruising along? Thanks Quote

Thanks if something got jammed up around the clutch basket, then yes. id say you broke something inside the clutch cover area. Quote
