Hey guys, I have a 2001, it just died one day and will not start. I'm no mechanic and was gonna sell it as a roller or part it out. The kick start does not move at all. Is that typical of a bad crank? I got curious today and pulled the cylinder head off. I was able to move the pistons up and down, albeit difficult. Both cylinder walls are smooth and the pistons seemed ok. When I drained the oil it had aluminum looking shavings. Any ideas as to the problem would be greatly appreciated.

prolly just broke your kickstart gear. its prolly a cheap simple fix. not your crank if the pistons will move freely.

I will look into that this weekend. Would that cause the bike to quit running though while cruising along?

Thanks

if something got jammed up around the clutch basket, then yes. id say you broke something inside the clutch cover area.
