agraves00 Posted May 17, 2009 Report Posted May 17, 2009 Hello.. Im new to Banshees from Quadzillas and 250Rs... got an 01 with Pro Circuit pipes but otherwise stock... runs great and I'm really impressed with my new quad... got a couple questions to get me started... I have the factory TORS system on my bike but it is disconnected... when I replace the tops of the carbs what do I drill and tap? Is it an adjustment for the slides? Pretty easy? Also I have a seal leaking on the gear shift shaft... are there any tricks to replacing.... I have a clutch that is unbelieveably hard to pull... after reading on here a good bit sounds like the pushrod is getting ready to seize up... what do you guys think... what is needed for this repair....Looking forward to getting to know you guys and helping out when I can. Thanks! Quote
Rodneya Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Welcome to the HQ. You have to drill and tap for the idle screws on the side of the carbs. Dont forget to grind off about 1/4 inch first or the screws will not reach the slides and use tapping oil. The seal will be a dog to get out with the engine all together, just make sure that you dont gouge the shift shaft while getting it off. Check the clutch cable is lubed and not kinked or squashed. I run 6 HD springs and the clutch is still easy to pull. The problem with buying a older Banshee is the DPO. Dreaded Previous Owner Quote
2001Stroker Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 A trick I learned for the shift shaft seal....Tip the bike up on the right wheels, to get the tranny oil away from the seal. Stick a 90 degree pick right through the middle of the seal, and rip it out. You might have to do it on both sides of the shaft, so it comes out evenly. While you're in there, you might as well check the o-ring on the neutral safety switch cover. Quote
RagunCajun Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 When i had 6 HD springs on my bike, it was a hard to pull. I hated it. It cant hurt to inspect the ball and rod. While you are in there, put a pancake bearing in or a thrust bearing. Quote
Darthwall Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 well with the carbs you should just find a set of used ones with the tors removed and the screws tapped they are normally preatty cheap on here just cause everyone wants somthing bigger and for the clutch do you have a short length lever? those ones are allways harder to pull back in my opinion if not try and take your cable off and see if it just worn out meaning doesnt slide back and forth very easily Quote
yamaha420 Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 i had hd springs in my 98 shee and it was pretty hard compared to this 06 i just picked up with what i assume has a stock clutch and springs havent had a chance to look yet but welcome to BHQ Quote
