supernova_64 Posted May 17, 2009 Report Posted May 17, 2009 Has anyone ran the needles that cascade innovations sells for the stock 26mm carbs. they say that they smooth out the power band with t5's and cpi pipes. im running cpis v force reeds, 21cc domes, and +4 timing i was wondering how they would perform. if not what needles are people running on a simmilar motor. im running toomey needles now. this is the web site for them http://67.199.65.66/cascade_innovations/ne...ore_dept_id=102 Quote
AKheathen Posted May 17, 2009 Report Posted May 17, 2009 that's b.s. the lightswitch powerband comes from the pipes, with proper flow, of coarse. i'm not sayin that they are bad at all, in fact it will help with the right mixture rolling from the bottom on up by comphesating for the larger main than the stock needle was intended for. the toomy needles are fatter @ the tip, right? if you feel that you need to richen it a little from 1/2 to 7/8 or lean it from about 1/2 down, then they would be good. what are you looking for, as far as performance change? supernova_64 Posted May 18, 2009 Author Report Posted May 18, 2009 I was just wondering if they would make the transfer into the power ban smother. Now at some of the hill climes that go into the watter that you cant get a run at, the power band hits so hard it will burry the bike in the sand when the tires come unglued in 1st +2nd. i was wondering if the needles would make it a smother transition. i don't have a problem with they way it runs i love the arm ripping power "thats why i bought the Banshee" i just thought they might be worth a try. Maby make the jet circuitry in the midrange more accurate? Quote
AKheathen Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 $45 is a bit much for needles that aren't verry discriptive. i believ what you are looking for is more like some midrange reeds Quote
dajogejr Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 No..the needles will only richen up a lean spot in the middle from stock needles. Quote

AKheathen Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 What!? You come up with some crazy shit, man. lol. i know, but i worked for me. used to have a lightswitch powerband with my pipes, then switched the reeds for the boysen dual stage (the clear low end reeds) and i completely flattened the powerband, picking up from down low. i'm gonna use them with the pcp's and get some carbon fibre's for the white pipes Quote
FireHead Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 No..the needles will only richen up a lean spot in the middle from stock needles. This is true...... Call Cascade and have Mike, Tim, or Chris give you a verbal walk through of their needles.................. IMO the needles are not a perfomance mod., but they are a tuning tool. :geek: Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 IMO the needles are not a perfomance mod., but they are a tuning tool. :geek: I agree. The same thing applies to those folks who list "jetted" as a mod. Even a stock bike has jets... Quote
FireHead Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 I agree. The same thing applies to those folks who list "jetted" as a mod. Even a stock bike has jets... My jets are way bigger than everyone else's plus they're polished............. I think I get like 15 more hp out of that mod. alone. Then, when I fill my boost bottle with jelly beans, I make 25 more hp. If you add those two things together, it makes it so I have to run race gas. Quote

Well, I drilled holes in my slides to lighten them, that makes my throttle response much faster. I also use trans-fat 2-stroke oil, for it is much more slick. You got me on the jelly beans, I guess the corned-beef hash just doesn't cut it. Oh well... Quote

I use carbon fiber needle clips for less weight! Quote
