adrenaline junky Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 I completely cleaned out the went through every jet and hole in the carbs and made sure they were clean. It seems like it is loading up because after I actually ride it it will start for basically the hole weekend. The only reason I dont think it is loading up is because if i idle it and rev it for a while it will run fine. Let it cool down for about thirty minutes it starts right up. Then I'll come back and try to start it up about 5 hours later and it wont start. Wat do you guys think is wrong? Quote

J-Madd Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 Slight head gasket leak? Just enough water gets in the cylinder while it sits to make it difficult to start, but not bad enough to keep it from running once it gets cleaned out and warmed up. I've seen that, but if that is the case I would't keep running it. I've heard that sucking in water will lean it out and damage head/piston/cylinder, etc. It didn't happen on the motor I'm referring to, though. What do your plugs look like after it sits and won't start?. Water will bead up on the plug if its present. Pretty easy to see if its there. Quote

And now I started it today and it was warmed up but it will not idle either. And trust me the idle is set higher than it normaly is. I knoww this because i will rev it then it will idle for a few seconds (higher than normal) and imediately shut off. Quote
AKheathen Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 sounds like an airleak check the intakes, and choke tube. it's exibiting classic lean. check the compression, too Quote
