Mason Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Sup fellas. i finally have got my banshee back from my dealership and boy i thought it ran good when it didnt run right, now since it is fixed i can barely hold on now. lol jk. but i need some advice an a couple things: the kickstarter: i noticed that when i am riding my kick lever vibrates like crazy all over the place. i am guessing that a kickstarter rebuild kit will remedy this? clutch cover gasket: now since i have got my carbs straightened up and stopped leaking, i noticed my clutch cover gasket leaks. i was wondering what brand you guys like the most (i heard cometic are the best). just wondering what you guys were using front sprocket: i don't know if it is just me but i can't seem to find a 16T front sprocket ANYWHERE. the biggest i can find is 15T. i have a 16T on it right now (i thought maybe it was me so i counted the teeth numerous times and get 16T everytime) and i really like it and would like to stick with it. any suggestions on where i can find one? thanks guys and any info would be greatly appreciated  Quote
STINKYDELUXE Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 there are a bunch of 16t sprockets on ebay Quote
Mason Posted May 12, 2009 Author Report Posted May 12, 2009 i dont really like dealing with ebay. i dont have an account, either Quote
2001Stroker Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Why in god's name do you need a 16t front sprocket? Are you riding asphault? That's gonna make your bike a pig, unless you get a bigger rear sprocket too. Kickstarter, go to a local hardware store, and get an oversized o-ring for $0.99. Takes care of it. Clutch cover gasket, take it off, clean it with some Brakleen, and put it back on. Make sure the bolts are good and tight, but don't over tighten them. Hope that helps. Quote
Mason Posted May 12, 2009 Author Report Posted May 12, 2009 i ride mostly in fields and some trails and everything in between (but sand) i like it cuz it gives a nice amount of top end, i havent checked my rear teeth yet but im sure its not stock. i am just asking because i am heading to treverton with it this weekend and im going to put more tranny fluid in it but i dont want to leak it all out again. so pretty much take it off and clean the gasket? if its that simple ill do it tomorrow. and to get that off do you have to take the water pump cover/stuff off along with the clutch cover to get to it? 2001Stroker Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 If you ride mostly trails, and you're going to treverton, you're gonna want a smaller front sprocket, or bigger rear. You need more lowend. Stock is 14/41. Drain the coolant, by taking the lower radiator hose from the clutch cover. Drain all of the transmission fluid. Loosen all the bolts around the clutch cover, and take it off. You do not have to take off the water pump cover. Quote
swrbansheeboy Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 if it were me i would... shut the fuel off/ stand the bike up on it's left side/ pull the radiator hose off of the clutch cover/ hold the hose several inches lower than where the clutch cover meats the case and drain the coolant into something clean so it can be used later to refill the radiator/ pull the clutch cover/ take a rag and some carb cleaner and clean up the mating surface at the case and the clutch cover so theres no oily residue/ grab a new clutch cover gasket/ put a light coating of threebond or hondabond 4 on the mating surfaces of both the case and the clutch cover/ install the new clutch cover gasket on the case/ re-install the clutch cover and tighten all screws/ re-install the radiator hose/ let the bike sit for an hour/ tip the bike back on it's wheels/ take the coolant you drained and pour it back into the radiator/ top off your tranny fluid/ turn the fuel back on and then go ride.... but then again i'm a cheap bastard and dont like to drain my case if i dont have to. i also have several tubes of threebond laying around and a couple extra clutch cover gaskets....
