93_banshee Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 I having trouble with my armature on my banshee, it wont come out of the case. the other day the clutch lever went limp it had no tension on it what so ever. so i pulled the cover off the side to check out the clutch the clutch ball welded its self to the push rod. i havent tried to get the pushrod out yet but i know for sure my armature wont come out the case, im just wondering if i have to split the case or not or if i can just leave it alone and ust buy a new clutch ball and pancake bearing Quote
swrbansheeboy Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 sometimes when you weld the pushrod assembly up it will mar the pushrod surface of the armature creating a burr that wont allow you to reamove the arm without galling up the bore where tha arm rides. i have removed them before with minimal scarring of the bore but the correct way to do it without chewing anything up is to split the cases and grind off the burr before removal of the arm. that being said the main surfaces that the arm ride on are the small pin on the bottom that seats into the lower case half and the bearing at the top of the upper case so if it's not too bad you can try and work it out... like most things on here it's kind of hard to form an opinion without having it in front of me... DallasGDub Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 is there a fix to this problem? just wondering so it dont happen to me in the future. I would say that besides installing a pancake bearing, you can also put in a new ball and rod as well. Just to play it safe. I know RagunCajon put in the pancake bearing, but the ball and rod had imperfections. It ended up welding anyways. Here is a pics of what swrbansheeboy is talking about. (Pics from LS1Inferno from when he helped me) Quote

zachass9 Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 (edited) Split the cases and do it right the first time!! Replace everything, it is way cheaper than having to split the cases and do it all again in a few rides if not minutes. You can probably clean up and reuse the clutch actuator, but the ball is like a buck and the rod is cheap!! Pancake bearings are a must on all of my bikes!! I took the short cut once and missed a big weekend over a few bucks and a little work!! Never again!! Good luck!! Z Edited May 6, 2009 by zachass9 Quote
TexasBansheeMan Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 also STOP HOLDING THE DAMN CLUTCH IN!! Its a easy fix, do it right and be done. Im not sure but I think someone sells a ceramic ball to replace the steel one. Quote
