kirk3000 Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 so my banshee won't start cold. if i pour some gas down the sparkplug holes it fires up no problem and runs great. but as soon as the engine cools for 5 minutes or so it wont start again. it also starts if i roll down a hill and drop the clutch. I'm jetted at 210 mains, 3rd clip, at sea level. it runs good so i don't think its the jetting. for the bowls which one goes on that side? on the inside of them one has a 1 it in, and the other has a 2. anyone know what number goes on what side? (one has that little brass plug thingy on it, cant remember what one) I've tried the bowls on both sides but they both did the same thing. the choke tube is on, I've double checked that. I'm not sure on the compression because i don't have a tester, but it pushes my thumb off the hole if i kick it. this problem is beyond me, please help me. (its had this problem off and on since i bought the thing) could it be reeds maybe? Quote
278 Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 What mods do you have? and I would go through the carbs and clean them real well, what pilot jets are you running also? Quote
kirk3000 Posted April 29, 2009 Author Report Posted April 29, 2009 all it has is fmf pc2 silencers, airbox lid removed and boyessen power reeds. im not sure on the pilots, how many turns out should they be? Quote
sheefreak Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 You need to clean the pilot jets real well. Airscrews should be about 1 1/2 turns out give or take a 1/4 to half turn. Quote

Rodneya Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Do you have FMF pipes, or just the silencers. Quote
kirk3000 Posted April 29, 2009 Author Report Posted April 29, 2009 (edited) my altitude is like 14 feet above sea level, and i just have the silencers, and its like 10-30 degrees Celsius around here most of the year. Edited April 29, 2009 by kirk3000 Quote
kirk3000 Posted April 30, 2009 Author Report Posted April 30, 2009 so i fixed it today. my pilots were super lean, 3 3/4 turns out. looked in the clymers manuel and it said 2 turns out, so i did and it fired up in 2 kicks. but you guys think my mains are lean? and thanks for all your help. this site rocks Quote

Rodneya Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 You are still running the stock pipes, so 210 mains are ok, depending on your intake. Are you running a snorkel and lid, no lid or aftermarket air filter. Quote
kirk3000 Posted May 1, 2009 Author Report Posted May 1, 2009 stock air filter, no lid. so the problem came back.... it can cool for about an hour now and still fire up so its getting better haha if my bowls are on the wrong sides will it still run, just not start and the choke not work? Quote
AKheathen Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 stock air filter, no lid. so the problem came back.... it can cool for about an hour now and still fire up so its getting better haha if my bowls are on the wrong sides will it still run, just not start and the choke not work? yup, it just makes the choke not work. the one with the brass bead goes on the choke side. the fmf silencers will make your mains 1 size bigger. that, and the air filter setup should put you around 240, or 250 mains, and try your airscrews @ 1.5 turns out. do you have something holding the filter in place, where it seals tward the carbs? kirk3000 Posted May 2, 2009 Author Report Posted May 2, 2009 got it running for real this time, it was the bowls and the pilots too lean. started up right away. Quote
