im trying to put a new crank in but im havin trouble with the main drive gear nut on the crank and the nut in the clutch. i tried putting a rag in the teeth between the gears but it just eats up the rag. that damn thing is on there so wat should i do. thanks

put a penny in the gears and hit it with an impact....peace

Yeah man use a penny you should be able to atleast get the crank nut off but the clutch will probably need an impact for

use something more solid than a rag but not something that will damage the gears.

 

as for the clutch nut, an impact works best. use something that wont damage the clutch basket to keep it from spinning.

 

are you using an impact? if so this stuff should be easy. if not, good luck.

I used an old license plate bent in half with a impact worked perfect with no damage

If you use a penny you can get by with not using an impact. Or you can spend a few $$$ and buy a strap wrench and you can hold either side.
