mwood Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 I've read most of the threads on here for this problem and nothing seems to be working. I have an 06 with fmf fattys powercore 2 v-force 3 and k&n pods. My quad has a sparatic bog and the left cylinder cuts out. It gets super hot after just a few minutes. My elevation is about 3k and will be riding at dunes around 5k. Ant help would be great. Quote
'04limited Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 what carbs/ jets are in the bike also do you still have the tors? Quote
mwood Posted April 21, 2009 Author Report Posted April 21, 2009 I have the stock carbs and the TORS on. I have 25 pilots and have ran 260, 270, 280, and 290 in it and it doesn't seem to change. I have the needle clip in the 3rd position which should be stock. I've checked into getting 27.5 pilots and no one has them around my area. Quote

Handyman Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 Remove the TORS.....You are running way lean...that's why you're overheating...Get the 27.5 pilots and rejet to a 340 main...that's what i run at 4500ft elevation and it runs just about perfect Quote
Sammy Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 and rejet to a 340 main...that's what i run Judging by your sig I take that as a typo. Quote
GrMeyer Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 (edited) have you synced the carbs? and get the Tors gone. they are just probs. but for that set up and you are up to 3k on el so I would have to say move up to around 320 mains and go from there. work on mains first then work your way down the the needle and so on. Handyman Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 Judging by your sig I take that as a typo. What I have in my sig is for where I live and where i ride the bike... I said jet to a 340 because that's what my bike needs to run at 4500 ft eleavation and he said he will be riding dunes at 5000 ft elevation... Quote
mwood Posted April 22, 2009 Author Report Posted April 22, 2009 I have not sync'd the carbs, just used the Tors for now. I have the eliminator kit coming in today. I will install it tonight or tomorrow and try some bigger mains and see how it works. What exactly do I need to do when taking out the tors and crushing them with a hammer. Do I just unplug the box under the tank or is there more to it? What about the wires coming out of the throttle housing? Quote
GrMeyer Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 I got ride of all the connections and the black box and was good to go... Quote
mwood Posted April 23, 2009 Author Report Posted April 23, 2009 I just got my quad done! Put 310 mains and 27.5 pilots and 1 1/2 turns out on the screws and it rips!!!! Thanks to all who put in their much appreciated knowledge!!!!! Thanks a ton! Quote
Handyman Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 Glad that we could help....Is it still overheating or did the re-jetting fix that too?? Quote
mwood Posted April 23, 2009 Author Report Posted April 23, 2009 Seemed to have fixed it, but all I could do was ride around the subdivision. I got a pro design impeller to install next. Hopefully that will fix it for good. Quote

Hopefully that will fix it for good. do a plug chop when you get where you're gonna ride. remember that the fuel will probably be different availible at 3000, than a gas station at 5000, which will change jetting by about 2 main sizes, so be prepared to re-jet with some 330's or 340's Quote
GrMeyer Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 wouldnt going up in elv woundnt that be going rich due to the air being thinner? and its only around 2k elv so it isnt going to be that much of a diff so maybe one jet down on the main. i could see going from like sea level to 5k for about 2-3 jets but thats about it. when I go up to strawberry from phx I only have to jet down one.
