cjtl1000r Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 Two quick questions; first, can the rubber boots be removed from the a-arms to allow them to be powder coated? Also how do you get the bearings out of the swing arm where it connects to the frame? I got the pin out and the seals but those two bearings are bound up tight. I put some wd-40 on them last night and am going to try again tonight, if all else fails I Quote
MILO Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 i'm not sure about the a-arms  those swinger bearings can be a real bitch to get out. be glad that your pivot bolt came out. they get rusted in there sometimes too and can be a real pain in the ass. lots of wd 40 or pb blaster, time to soak, and a BMFH. heating it may help if you have the tools to do so. Bill Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 The rubber boots on the a-arms are held on by a metal ring, get some needle nose pliers and pull her off. Those pivot bearings don't come out easy at all, plan on buying some new ones cuz those ones wont survive the beating it takes to get em out. Quote

cjtl1000r Posted March 31, 2009 Author Report Posted March 31, 2009 So i can pull the boots but will need to replace them after the powder coat? Sorry, I'm getting a lil confused! Quote
uwenr Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 So i can pull the boots but will need to replace them after the powder coat? Sorry, I'm getting a lil confused! Yes and they are a bitch to put the clip back on the rubber. I was talking about the ball joint itself, if it is loose dont bother powdercoating the arms. The ball joints are not replaceable. Quote
Bill Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 All I was talking about was the boots on the ball-joints, stock ball-joints are not replaceable. Quote
cjtl1000r Posted March 31, 2009 Author Report Posted March 31, 2009 Ok thanks guys, that what i thought on the ball joints not being removable. Quote
