my bike is over heating, if i get it in the tree trails its done but if i stay at the drag strip it doesnt over heat. the water pump seems to be doing good, we took off the hose from the head and turned it over and had plenty of fuild coming out. so i think my impleler is fine but havent looked at it. i was told that my timing might be set up to high. is there an easy way to check and make sure it is at a +4, i had a guy tell me he thinks its at a +7. i have an adjustible stator, ported and polished, bored pistons, cool head, 19 domes and an aftermaket aluminum radiator and aftermarket impleler. im new at this and tired of spending all the money on labor and not parts so im going to start doing as much as i can but i need help getting started.

are you running race gas? if not, youre probably detonating. also hows your jetting?

 

 

im running 91oct with mc-1 oil my jets are 280 drilled .004 what is detonating? im telling ya im new at this

sounds like deto to me! go with at least a 20cc dome (depending on elevation) and back the timing down to +4.

 

 

or run higher octain fuel.

 

 

i had the stock head on it before the cool head and put the 19cc domes in it and it was still over heating

+7 on your timing is probably too much and 19cc domes aint helping matters much on pump gas. do you have acess to high octaine fuel or av gas?

 

if its detonating, you may hear a pinging or knocking noise and may see the spark plugs backing out.

yea i have access to it the higher oct fuel. i just dont want to blow a hole in one of my pistons. what else can i do to make it go faster too. i still have stock spockets on it and dont know what to go with

detonation if anything will burn up a top end. put some higher octain gas in and see what itll do.

 

 

that would make sense this is the third top end ive put in it in the last 6 months

what do you think i need to run in it. i was running some racing coolant in it and then after putting the coolhead on it we just put 50/50 mix in it. all we had out there at the time.

you are definately having some issues here.. i am running 19cc domes with +5 timing on 93 octane.. to me, this is like getting away with murder.. it sounds like everything is outta wack, compression/timing is too high, and your jetting could be lean.. back the timing back down to +4 and see what happens. maybe you are jetted too lean also.. check your jetting. if you still get deto, run some bigger CC domes.. good luck.
