yama350 Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS EVER BEEN CHECKED OR TICKETED FOR THEIR NOISE DB AT SAND LAKE OR ANY OTHER PARTS OF THE OREGON DUNES? I JUST INSTALLED A SET OF TOOMEY T5 PIPES AND SILENCERS AND AM GETTING READY TO GO RIDING FOR A DAY AND WAS WONDERING IF I SHOULD BE OK FOR MY DB LEVEL? THANKS Quote
donkeypuncher Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 you are over the db level without a hush kit. if their is one place to ride in oregon and get a ticket it would be sand lake. the sheriffs at their are big time dicks and if they get a chance they will give you a ticket. my advice is to not do anything stupid while you're out there and when you see a sheriff go in the oposite direction and you SHOULD be fine. good luck and have fun. Every bike I have ever had out at Sand Lake has been checked at one time or another........ If you are going out there you probably need to make sure you are atleast close to being legal or can convince the officers that there test procedure is flawed (long story). :cool: Quote

Pincushion Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 (edited) There's one road in and one road out of the area. They can block the road past Dereck Rd and prevent an exit easily. Not a good place to try to run! I was out there a few months ago and a few guys ran from the open sand back to the parking lot and tried to load up and bail quickly. The ranger who tried to stop them called in the description and within 40 seconds there was 4 LEO trucks surrounding their rig. I know they got sound tickets and may have gotten evading tickets too. Sand Lake was out of control for a long time. Not anymore. They have it under lock and key these days. Edited April 10, 2009 by Pincushion Quote

If you get one, you basically can't ride your bike again until you fix the issue and I think if you get a second ticket within some period of time after the first ticket, the second ticket costs twice as much as the first one. As some others have said, there is no running from the rangers at SL. Quote
