wacko2000 Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 I need a set of 35's for my shee, Bansheejunkey is sell a set of airstrikers. whats the difference between those and the basic pwk? pros and cons? thanks Quote
wacko2000 Posted March 17, 2009 Author Report Posted March 17, 2009 Need to know the difference in these carbs. Airstrikers better or worse than the standard pwk thanks Quote
Meat Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 From what I understand the only difference is there's little "fins" on the airbox side of the airstrykers. No fins in the reg pwks. Heres my pwk air stryker Quote
bbcmudtruck Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Get them! Just a heads up though, if your running t5s, don't get the boss one piece intake. You will have clearance issues. Quote
sredish Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 IMO, airstrykers are the better version of the pwk. from my experience running a single 35mm pwk and going to a 35mm pwk airstryker, the throttle response was improved, part throttle was smoother and it was easier to jet, for anyone who knows how touchy the needle can be in a single carb setup. the fins help with lower rpm vacuum and keep the response up. zachass9 Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 (edited) My builder explained it to me and said that the airstriker was designed as a modded pwk to help with bottom end for motorcross applications. The fins are that mod!! So, that is the rule that I have always lived by!! Right or wrong, hell who knows!!! sounds good and seems to make a little sense at least! burleybanshee Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 The air strikers are more of a motor cross carb. They are better for a lot of jumping, bottoming out, helps keep fuel flowing to the jets under hard harsh movements, you don't get them dumping fuel out the overflow tubes, and a little better botom end. More than just fins, you have a lot of tubing looping over the carb from one side to the other. I have standard 35's with boss intake and t-5's. BBCMUDTRUCK- said clearance issues, are you talking about the aircleaner/s? if thats the case, go down to auto store and take pods with carbs find straight hose to run as a spacer or intake runner, it moves the aircleaners back and does not touch the pipes. bbcmudtruck Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Hmm, didn't think about that. I just put some exhuast wrap on the silencer to keep from burning the outerwear. The other issue is the actual head pipe hits the top of the left carb. I had to "Motivate" the pipe to fit. Quote

dajogejr Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Correct. The air strykers were made for MX application, bogging from low rpms or landing from a hard jump...these carbs address that. For gas trail/dune bikes they're great. I've heard they can be a pain to tune in for methanol, but I've never used on for that, so I couldn't tell you first hand. Quote
MarineNYC Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 Damn. I thought my reg PWKs were dope. I might have to get a set now. Damn addiction!! Quote

Profilact Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 Really? Please elaborate. Just a personal preference. I have always found mikuni's to be easier to work on and tune than keihins. Quote
