locogato11283 Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 local yamaha shop here does that too. they cut them and solder them. the one i had made lasted forever. not sure what kind you need to use though. something that will stick to cable might not be the same as something for copper. Quote
nayr742003 Posted March 15, 2009 Author Report Posted March 15, 2009 yeah i have tryed it with 2 types of soder i just wander if its sticking ti the copper and not the cabel. Whats the new cabels made of stainless or steel? I wander if theres a certain kind of soder i should use. Quote

baddsheee Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Try more heat like a torch for sweating copper pipe?? Off topic, but this is one clean bike you have PACIFIC NW, don't even need plastics. Quote
nayr742003 Posted March 15, 2009 Author Report Posted March 15, 2009 Ok so what i have came up with is i need a soder that sticks to cooper and stainless. I wander if i could jb weld it or use some kind of apoxy to hold it together? Quote
spike Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 Silver solder is probably what your going to need, not electrical grade lead solder. They use silver solder for jewelery and shit. You need a oxy-acetylene torch to use the stuff as well as I dont think a regular propane rig will melt it. Quote

2001Stroker Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 I'm know I'm gonna sound like an idiot here. But, not too sure what the purpose is to solder them. Why don't you just buy a new cable? I just bought a new Streamline Stainless Braided cable, coated with clear PVC, for $29. For Keihin carbs, you need part number C101-0813. Quote
