twizted269 Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 why in the hell would my chain be skipping? first ride on brand new chain and a set of sprockets. needless to say was too far to get my spare and definatly wasnt gonna waste the trip so its all fd up now. what would cause this? rolls around it freely untill it is under a load. it was also adjusted correctly. wtf? also swapped the chain from my buddys and same damn thing!!!!! could it be the sprockets? locogato11283 Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 the chain must not be tight enough. also, did you make sure to get the front sprocket on snug with the retainer clip? Quote
twizted269 Posted March 15, 2009 Author Report Posted March 15, 2009 the chain must not be tight enough. also, did you make sure to get the front sprocket on snug with the retainer clip? everything was snug just right. chain was adjusted to have a between a half inch and 3\4 for play. it started right from the get go and was annoying as all hell. i put that chain on my buddy bike and his worked fine. i put his on my bike and has the same skipping problem. it rolls around the chain like it should but when you give it gas it skips. the only thing i could think of was the rear sprocket. locogato11283 Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 is the rear sprocket new? its bolted up tight? Quote
1996dragshee Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 I've rounded sprokets from not tightening the chain enough. Not talking about the slack i mean from the carrier bolts and adjusters...shit got loose quick Quote
twizted269 Posted March 15, 2009 Author Report Posted March 15, 2009 is the rear sprocket new? its bolted up tight? rear sprocket was brand new. first ride on it. everything was bolter right and straight. carrier adjust correct. every bearing and bushing replace on entire bike so there is no play in anything. axle nuts were also tight. just doesnt make any sense. something im my chain and sprockets must not match right. twizted269 Posted March 15, 2009 Author Report Posted March 15, 2009 im gonna change the rear sprocket back to the old one and see what happens with that. i dont know what the hell it would be. Quote
