What could have caused this? I just bought this banshee ( didnt pay very much for it thank god) and took it out for a spin after getting it running and it ran pretty good except it had a bog when out of the power band. So I decided to tear it down and this is what I found. One piston has a dent in the dome and is actually cracked on the inside of the piston, and it has extensive scratches in the jug. Haven't got the case apart yet to see what all is in it. Rod bearings seem to be in good shape, It has Vito's pistons, cool head with 22cc domes, the rest I have no clue. Here is some pics.

ran lean or something.....

I dont think it running lean would cause a dent. It looks like someone took a hammer to it, so Idk man. I would think any major impact wouldnt dent it because thats the strongest part of the piston. I would think it would break something off

It's got me baffled, there is no marks on the dome from anything hitting it.

So you were running a hotter plug and more timing, that will cause some heat and a lean cond,It also looks like a lot of dirt, those pistons bring the exhaust in early.Basically it was a time bomb

Well if the dent is in both pistons and it has b7es, correct me if im wrong but the b7es plugs sit farther down in the cylinders, depending on the head maybe he cut them to clear, or thought he needed to cut them to clear.
