XxMeltIcexX Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 word, if you don't have an impact you shouldn't be workin on it lol... Quote
bansheefreak Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 leave a few clutch fibers/steels in there to lock the hub and basket together... Quote
2001Stroker Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 Yup, the 1/2" Ingersol-Rand gets it off every time. Quote
tidos76 Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 if you dont have a impact go to home depot. they have some cheap ones for about $30-40. while your there get you a 32mm impact socket. you need it for you clutch hub and sprocket nut. Quote
Banshee_Bandit Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 x2 on Tidos comment. Impact will work def !!! Give it a shot bro Quote
RagunCajun Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 (edited) +3. Stop until u get a impact gun. I went got myself a $30 impact gun at Sears along with a socket to fit it. Then it takes one quick press of the trigger. nut breaks looks. And to put it back on. A few LIGHT hits and it's tight and ready for action(that's what she said ). Later on u can also use it to take the flywheel off. I put it on the nut and then the puller and TAP TAP.....off they come. I use the crap out of my impact gun. I always use it to take bolts off. Im too lazy to turn a rackets lol. Edited March 2, 2009 by RagunCajun Quote
kwalt21 Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 Hahaha I remember my first time taking the basket off. I was lifting the bike up off the ground trying to use a regualar wrench :shoothead: Quote
lokisbuddy Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 I also agree on the impact method but personally I would never use an impact to put it back on or any bolt or nut for that matter. I am not saying it won't work, but it's only a matter of time before you fuck something up doing it that way. Quote
banshee_terror_ Posted March 2, 2009 Author Report Posted March 2, 2009 i found out another way. i put it in gear and put another wratchet on the sproket nut and i had to crank hard on the clutch and it took 2 peaple but it worked Quote
boneyardbanshee. Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 leave a few clutch fibers/steels in there to lock the hub and basket together... Yep, dont need an impact. I just use the steels. Lock them all together with some locking needle nose pliers through the basket and you have an instant clutch holder. Works like a charm. Quote
grizzly700 Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 i always use an impact for disassemble but wenever i put shit back together i always use hands and rachet. was taught that in school and feel safer that way. i can feel wen shit is binding up better by hand. impact gun doesnt always give you second chances. lol Quote
