I have 2 sets of stock reed cages, one set has super stock carbon fiber reeds, and the other set has power reeds.

I ride alot of tight trails.

What set of cages you guys think will be better for my type of ridin, also can anyone tell me the difference between both?

I'm still new to all this, so any help, info or opinion will be appreciated.

Thanks

From what I can tell, the carbon fiber ones are single stage, and the other ones look like some kind of fiberglas and they're 2 stage.

I know they are single stage, you need to find out if they are low, mid, or high tension.

I use carbon tech mid tension reeds on my low-mid motor setup. I put a set of boyesen dual stage reeds on a banshee recently, and it seemed to make decent power gains from mid-top with a little more low end grunt as well.

I don't know how to tell if they're low, mid or high tension since they're already installed on the cages and not new.

I guess I'll try the carbon fiber ones, and then swap them for the 2stage and see what works better for me.

I'm going to get vf3s and a noss head once the summer is over.

I just want some opinions and info on what I have right now.

Thanks for info guys.

If its a drag or mid-top motor the vf3's will make a difference. If its anything else you will want to probably run a different setup. I dont know what your port job is, or where those pipes work.

My mods are .20 over with oem replacement piston, +4 timing, reed spacers, ported stock reed cages, stock carbs with 330 main and 27.5 pilots, KnNs pods and Vito's Fat Bastards pipes.

This explains the difference between boyesen's three types of reed (not including Rad Valve). It is their site so the wording is obviously designed to make them all sound like the best thing since sliced bread. But, anyway, from what I gather, the single carbon fiber reed is the SuperStock reed. It is marketed as a direct OEM spec replacement that lasts longer than OEM. The Power series is the next level offered. It is a dual stage fiberglass reed with a low tension top reed and a mid-high tension ported (3 ports) bottom reed. Claims crisper throttle response and more horsepower throughout the powerband. They all say that though. The top reed they offer is the Pro Series. It seems to be the same dual stage reed as the Power series except it has a carbon fiber low tension reed on top and a ported (2 ports) fiberglass mid-high tension bottom reed. I just got myself a set of Pro series reeds for mine and as soon as i get it back together, I'll let you know how they turned out.
