robert0762 Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 Is there ne thing that can make me run rich besides jets. Its only rich up to 1/8 throttle but it cant be the jet cause its a stocker all the way besides being bored 80 over. I even took the filter and lid off and turned the airscrew out 3.75 turns and it still gives me a rich plug plus it hesitates going into the powerband like its cold if i down shift into the powerband it will rip but not pulling into it Quote
jlsparky7 Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 Could try running it at idle with the air filter off and see what the plugs look like. You might need a different idle jet. Quote
AKheathen Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 Check the choke tube between the carbs. pull the choke plunger and inspect the o-ring. try dropping the needle 1 clip. clean your carbs real good, pull the airscrews, and check the pilot jets. turn the screws back to 1.5, and add fresh premix Quote
Rodneya Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 Checking the plugs after idling will always give a rich reading. Use your air screw settings to determine if your pilot jet is the right size. What size pilot jet do you have, and is your air filter clean. Quote
robert0762 Posted February 24, 2009 Author Report Posted February 24, 2009 thats the weird thing its stock and I took the filter out to see if that was it and it still does the same thing. Quote
robert0762 Posted February 24, 2009 Author Report Posted February 24, 2009 cleaned both carbs new plugs and fresh mix I have a new coil and caps. when I put the fresh plug in the right cyl is black in less then ten min the left seems to be good I'm getting a nice choc color Quote
R. Rollins Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 what premix are you running? If it is like the book tells us at 32:1 then its too rich. Run it at 40:1 Quote
1996dragshee Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 I think the majority of people run 32:1.I run it in my alky and when i was running race fuel. The last thing you wanna do is try leaning out your oil/fuel mix because your jetting/carbs are fucked up.I would raise the clips on the needles one notch and go from their. If you have to raise that fucker all the way up till it runs right then go for it but i'll put money on it that your mix ratio isn't the problem. R. Rollins Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Damn: I havent considered that. The dealership in Cheyenne had a dyno at thier shop. They had rejetted it before I picked it up. I bought it right out of the crate. I have Nitro Tates video now and plan on trying the plug chop sequence on the thing and see where its at. I may also check the brass jet rod and see which grove its sitting at as well. Thanks for the input, as I would hate to burn it up. Even though its running great, doesnt mean its right. I guess the Dealer ship mech could be wrong, Its worthn a good check. Good point. Quote
