Jeeperace Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 I just picked up an 01 Banshee Friday to build and ride. It starts up and runs but it is locked in gear so I need to get inside and see whats up. After reading on this site a little, It sounds like maybe a bent shift fork or something. Suggestions??? I stripped the quad to the frame and took the engine out, I guess I'll be splitting it open next. Looking forward to getting it rolling and start installing some go fast parts rather than the necessary parts. Quote
locogato11283 Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 youll have to split the cases. do you have a clymer manual? if not, get one. Quote
F.T.W. Banshee Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 Congrats on the new quad and welcome. I would also urge you to get a clymers. Quote
RollinRhino Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 Its probably a bent shift fork like you thought. Quote
krss144 Posted February 24, 2009 Report Posted February 24, 2009 Welcome, I am new to and I just got a 99 myself and doing the same thing. If you need to send a pm my way feel free and keep us up on your progress Quote
Jeeperace Posted February 24, 2009 Author Report Posted February 24, 2009 Thanks for the replies, I picked up a Clymer manual today. Hopefully I'm up for the job. I've rebuilt upper and lower ends on a few two stroke single cylinder bikes in the past but never a twin cylinder. I know I can handle the disassembly anyway. LOL. My KX500 is due for a rebuild next.
