jamebo Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 Hey guys, had a question about a clutch cover. I found a really nice polished cover on the net. I pm'ed the guy asking if the cover was ready to install, with water pump, gear, and seals. He said everything was included, but the cover had been off the bike for a couple of months so he couldn't guarantee the seal was still good. Which seal could he be talking about, the kickstart seal, or water pump? I've never removed my clutch cover, so I don't know for sure what all is involved. If those are the seals he's talking about, where could I get new ones? Also, could I re-use my old clutch cover gasket? Any input on this would be great. Quote

swrbansheeboy Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 if it we're me i would swap out the water pump shaft seal and the o-ring for the pass through. if the cover seal or the kicker seal leak then it's no big deal, you lose some tranny fluid then pull it and replace them. if the water seals leak then you smoke clutches and possibly fry tranny gears... jamebo Posted February 21, 2009 Author Report Posted February 21, 2009 I appreciate it guys, I'll start looking around for a gasket/seal set for it. I definitely don't want it to leak after filling it back up with all the fluids. I'd like to upgrade to a high flow impellor while I'm in there, but don't really have the money to do that yet. I may just go ahead and get the cover and hold off on installing it until I can get the gaskets and impellor kit. Thanks for all the info, guys. Quote
