i got a stock air box, want to try it with out the lid, will it give more power? do i have to re jet?

yes you obviously have to rejet if you let more in, by removing the lid.

if you only remove the lid and keep the airbox and stock filter, just bump up 3 sizes or 4 sizes up on the main jet, but im pretty sure the stock filter is not made to run without the lid.

just get K&N filter for the airbox, or even getter get the pods.

1 size bigger on the mains, maybe. Depends if you are slightly rich with the lid on or not.

My jetting is slightly rich with the lid on, and I can run with or without a lid without changing anything. The lid does act as a volume control though.

i have a k and n filter, i have never jetted before, is it the very bottom of the plug that u check to see if its rich or lean, mine had a dark oily fluid on the bottom of the spark plugs....this is with lid on, i have sst pipes and shes already jetted, i have vf3 reeds on the way with boost bottle and amr stage 3 cdi, how will these add ons affect the jetting?

I think you should do a plug chop and see what it looks like. Oh and no need to rejet for the boost bottle if you run R134B boost addative in it, any other addatives and you may have to bump up a jet size.

Pods are filters that you place one on each carb and you remove the entire airbox.

Pulling the plugs wont help you determine of your rich or lean. If you can not tell by the way it runs, you have to follow steps to find out.

Many opinions, here is what I do.

Warm the bike up on the old plugs, then turn it off. Put in a brand new set of plugs, and put the old set of plugs in your pocket. From start, run thru all the gears at WOT(wide open throttle), pull the clutch, hit the kill switch while in 6th roll to a stop. Then pull the plugs. Place the old plugs back in the bike to get you back to where you came from.

Use a flashlight to look down inside the new plug you used for WOT. You should see a nice brown choco ring around the base of the electrode. If its really dark/black your rich. If it is light brown cigarette stain color, your lean. If you can not see it, proceed to chop the top of the threads of the plug down until you can.

Check out the Jetting section. MANY threads cover all this. Even detailed stickys at the top.
