Are your springs on your slides trimmed any? Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted February 16, 2009 Author Report Posted February 16, 2009 they dont appear to be...... previous owner may have. ne way to tell if they have been? also since the tores removal install they needles seem more loose.... when installing carb tops i have to guide the needle in the hole usually with a long screwdriver or something... like they dont line up. just thought id mention that as well. I've heard of this happening but the problem was that the slides were wore out Quote
sleeper06 Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 Try ptting some light grease on slides also make sure the hole on the cable retainer is lined up with hole in slide(from top view).I had this problem once and ended up being that. Ive used scotchbrite pad to clean slides Quote

Ieat4strokes Posted February 17, 2009 Author Report Posted February 17, 2009 there not gold more of an aluminum color...... also theres some black left, not much and just on the intake/ airfilter side......... sup with that? i was wondering about that neways..... thanks Quote
grizzly700 Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 if u don't think it's ur carbs u may want to lube the throttle cable. U should have a cable lubing tool for ur shee. Good for maintaing clutch cable also. Quote
AKheathen Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 the slides are first coated with a metal primer, that has a slight goldish tint, that looks more like silver. then they are sprayed with a black anti-friction coating. if it wears through both these coatings, you'll have to clean it once in a while to keep them from dragging in the bore Quote

Just take your slide out and spray some carb cleaner on a rag and wipe them down good them wipe the inseide of the carbs out also and it will solve your problem. they get a little sticky in there and they will do that. I have had to do that to mine and my buddies several times over the years. Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted February 17, 2009 Author Report Posted February 17, 2009 thats some good to know info.... theres probally a qtr size circle of that black ani friction coating left on the air filter side of carb the rest is gone.... ive cleaned the slides and bore with a rag a few times and it seems to get better but after a day or less of riding it does it again.... can i buy new slides if so where can i get em?? thanks guys. jody Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 ahh, i think i have the same problem, my throttle kept sticking when open, leaving me to pull the kill cord (after nearly driving straight into my neighbour house!) So a nice amount of carb cleaner should do the trick? I did notice my slides were silver in colour too. On mine since taking the carbs apart to check the other day (before reading this post) now when i let off the throttle the revs takes ages to drop back down - any ideas why? Im not very good with carbs, but i know the jets were all clean and i cleaned out my filter etc. Im unsure what to adjust cheers Quote
AKheathen Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 watch your slides when they do this, and check your cables, make sure the caps aren't too tight, make sure the holes are not covered by the cable retainers in the slides, and check for an air leak. if your slides are clean, and you can move them easily in the carb when the cable's not connected, I'd bet it's your cable/s Quote
