banshee_terror_ Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 I took apart the shee today, and i took the head off and when i did there was nothing wrong with the pistons or cyl's at all. No scratches no anything. so the reason i took apart the motor in the first place was because when i was racing every time i threw it in 5th it would just bog down and when i threw it in 6th it bogged even worse but every other gear it was fine. so i compression tested it and the left side came out to be 90lbs and the right is 60. so with nothing wrong with the internals could it be a bad port job that is throwing off the compression. idk i need some input. shee4speed Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 you recently had this thing bored and ported? Quote
banshee_terror_ Posted February 14, 2009 Author Report Posted February 14, 2009 no wen i got it the guy said no port and its been bored 40. i found out today its ported and its only bored 20. but Ive never really had room to open it up like i did so I'm just throwing out suggestions but could it be the head gasket. but funny thing is when i did the test it held compression ands thats what led me to think it was a port. twizted269 Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 if your compression is that far apart and that low, it needs a new top end. Quote
banshee_terror_ Posted February 14, 2009 Author Report Posted February 14, 2009 yeah but the pistons rings everything cyl's are all fine not 1 scratch. and it held its pressure when i was doing the compression test. also i noticed my piston's there different it looks like the pistons were ported out as well and there different sizes and shapes were it was ported. what I'm trying to say is were the pistons were ported there not symmetrical to each other. SAVAGE420 Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 (edited) Just because you cant see anything wrong, it does not mean that there's nothing wrong. Just look at what you said about your comp....90 one side 60 the other...somethings wrong obviously! Sounds to me like the jugs are outa spec in the roundness department + rings are worn too. Bore/Hone new wiseco's and your good to go. Rock on! Edited February 14, 2009 by savage420 Quote
ohiobanshee Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 I had a shee that would bog in 4th 5th and 6th,ended up being the wrong needles in the carbs. Quote
AKheathen Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 beggining to sound like the guy tried to port himself, and screwed you by denying it, and it may be all screwed. i would take the juggs and pistons to a good builder, and have him check it out. the exhaust may be too high, and uneven, giving the low#'s, or not chamfered, or too wide, but you should just have it checked before you start spending$ on it Quote
