Hello,

I have had a few 2 strokes but this is my first Banshee. Its a 1998, has K&N filter, Airbox drilled, V-force reeds, boost bottle, Toomey T5 pipes and silencers.

It appears to have stock carbs on it. First of all, cold, its almost impossible to start. Second once started and warmed up, it only runs "right" with the choke 1/2 out. (Jetting too lean, I guess). The last issue is the thumb throttle is stiff, very stiff, possibly because I am pulling 2 slides, instead of one?

So what I am considering is putting a 40mm flat slide carb on it, elimintaing the dual carbs. I realize this has been talked about before, but could anyone give me advice with my set up what to expect? I think it would ease the thumb throttle as well as make tuning much easier. As well, I love flat slides.

I am also considering a 2 into 1 pipes set-up. I have alot of experience with v twin harley motors, the single pipes allow exhuast gasses to be scavenged, the result, lots more power. Is this the case with a Banshee? I will admit, I like the Toomey Sound however.

Last question, the stock carbs have the adjusters on top of them, which have two wires and a plug coming out....mine are plugged into a harness, but obviously a single carb wont have this, so what are the wires, and can they be eliminted?

Whew...lots of questions...I do mostly trail rinding, woods, ect...some wide open stuff too.

Thanks for any help...

Yes you are lean due these steps first and you will be happy with the perforamce.

Step one

Remove tors unit. - SEARCH ON HOW TO FIRST!

Step two

Rejet carbs to around 280 or 290 and adjust air screw about 1 and a half turns out

Step Three

take carb tops off and cut about 1 to 1and a half coils of each side then replace or lube cable it'll free up then

Step Four

Stay with dual carbs and toomeys thats how the bike was designed, you want a single pipe and single carb get a 450r or something

Step Five

im going to say add a timing plate, for 50 bucks a nice billet one. best money you ever spent. this is the information you need how tos can be found for every step on this forum if you search a little bit.
