1998 Yamaha YFZ350 Banshee First things first, this has no title...buyer will get bill of sale. This is the one your mother warned you about....lol ok maybe not but its a good machine. Upgrades include: Toomey t-5 pipes V force reeds Boost Bottle YFZ450 front end and shocks (widers is better and more travel too) Many small things Oh yea and new pro peg nerfs... If you want to see a video of this thing running and driving this was taken 3-15-2009 Way too fast for the wife...says get a 4 stroke??? The only negatives are it has stock carbs...anyone who knows these machines knows that the carbs are cantakerous, and its hard to start and hard to keep idle right...a good mechanic could adjust this out i bet... The new front tires in the pictures you do not get...I have a set of used ones that are about 25% tread...I need the new ones...the old ones hold air and will ride fine...(see the last photo) This is located near Mattoon IL 61938...can be shipped most anywhere in the 48 for $450.00...to your door ready to ride...call Matt (217)-460-0619 [email protected]

HELP Front master cylinder brake bleeding
mfred_2000 replied to mfred_2000's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
How do I get that little vacuum hose on the end of the banjo fitting? Once I do get it...how does the line not collapse around the banjo, making the suction impossible? Thank you -
Ok, I put a yfz450 front end on my shee, whole thing rotos spindles calipers ect. I hooked the new calipers up to my shee lines...I put in speed bleeders. I filled the front master cylinder with fluid, started to squeeze it to bleed the brakes, nothing is happening, fluid is not moving...nothing. So I order a rebuild kit for the master cylinder...rebuilty it today, its doing the same thing, no fluid going anywhere...what do I do, man i am frustrated...help...

Guys are using the banshee spindles, but the 450 spindles and calipers are far superior on braking...
-
Here is the finished product...I used the 450 spindles, everything, down to the brake line being secured like the 450...but yes I had to flip the top arms side to side for this to work...the brake lines on the 450 are behind the shock... Spacers...

Yea, I know a used set on eBay is $300.00, looking for a used set of 8 inche wheels and tires for my little ATC 70 Three Wheeler... [email protected]
-
I am just loking for a set of used 10" wheels and good 20" x 12" tires for my 1998 Banshee. I am also looking for a set of +1 or 2 rear wheel spacers, nothing fancy...I like realtors or any tire with a square profile... [email protected]

Thanks for all the help guys...still I just am not sure about having to flip the top arm side to side...I emailed him for some rods...

I know there are threads on this...but I am looking to see what the general concensus is after install? I am halfway through putting a complete 450 front end on my banshee, arms, spindles, shocks, brakes...whole thing. I also want to point out what no one has mentioned up to this point...to pull this off, you have to pop the upper arm off the spindles and switch them side to side for the shock to clear...I am not sure this doesnt defeat the geometrical purpose. I also need to find someone to reasonably make me a set of tie rods that are +1" over the stock 450 set, they just dont have enough of the threads hanging on for my liking...anyone know anybody that makes these?

I started today bolting up 2004 yfz arm, spindles, calipers, and shocks to my 1998 Banshee. Got one side done, need to make my spacers for the other side, looks like its all gonna be good. I do have some concerns, first, I got a little crazy with the cut off wheel and got into one of the welds a little, (kinda trimmed the top off of it) Second, the tie rods seem short, anyone figure out who is making the rods to order now? I will post pictures, as well as the place I got into the weld, I hit it with a belt sander to see if I could see a color change, looks like there is still good penetration so should be ok I think....

Just a quick one, the TORS units, what does TORS stand for, I assume its an acronym? Also if eliminated, what do you do with the wires hanging out of them? Mine are plugged into a harness under the tank? What are they like encoder wires or something? Thanks

I want to bolt YZF 450 Swingarm to my Banshee? Anyone tried this?
mfred_2000 replied to mfred_2000's topic in Suspension
Well.... I honestly thought it would be a neat project. I don't really want to get into a ton of fabrication, it seems pointless to do that much work when I could get an aftermarket swingarm. I just wanted to pick your brains and see if anyone has tried it. As for the parts, I think I'll put them on eBay, its just easier than haggling, that is if I don't use them. I am still throwing around using the A-arms. IDK...I am thinking I would just do a trade for a 450 and be done with it...lol don't tell, I love my shee, have never ridden a 450, but I hear they're insane... -
Alright, I have seen on here how to bolt the a-arms off a yzf450 to a banshee, now what about the swingarm? I am fortunate enough to have like new Arams, shocks swingarm, spindles, axel ect off a 450. Basically I have the entire front and rear ends. Does anyone know if this will work? At first glance, with a rough measurement, it appears the width is the same at the pivot. It would be kinda cool...if I can get it done without cutting my frame and re welding it or something major? Anyone try this before?

I see alot of folks going to the 450 4 stroke atv's...I love my Banshee, and have never had the oppourtunity to race a 450...how do they stack up? Also, just curious, what is the HP on a stock banshee, vs a stock 450 Thanks for any help

Hello, I have had a few 2 strokes but this is my first Banshee. Its a 1998, has K&N filter, Airbox drilled, V-force reeds, boost bottle, Toomey T5 pipes and silencers. It appears to have stock carbs on it. First of all, cold, its almost impossible to start. Second once started and warmed up, it only runs "right" with the choke 1/2 out. (Jetting too lean, I guess). The last issue is the thumb throttle is stiff, very stiff, possibly because I am pulling 2 slides, instead of one? So what I am considering is putting a 40mm flat slide carb on it, elimintaing the dual carbs. I realize this has been talked about before, but could anyone give me advice with my set up what to expect? I think it would ease the thumb throttle as well as make tuning much easier. As well, I love flat slides. I am also considering a 2 into 1 pipes set-up. I have alot of experience with v twin harley motors, the single pipes allow exhuast gasses to be scavenged, the result, lots more power. Is this the case with a Banshee? I will admit, I like the Toomey Sound however. Last question, the stock carbs have the adjusters on top of them, which have two wires and a plug coming out....mine are plugged into a harness, but obviously a single carb wont have this, so what are the wires, and can they be eliminted? Whew...lots of questions...I do mostly trail rinding, woods, ect...some wide open stuff too. Thanks for any help...
