Klaus Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Hi Guys. Im new to the banshee game ( This is my first post  ), I bought my first one on tuesday. 1. Ive got a 2001 Banshee with a RD 350 motor in it. Compression on the motor seems good (7 bar), and starts first kick. The bike has Fmf gold series pipes. The bike seems very lazy on pull away, but from about half throttle it pulls like a beast- the power band is very distinctive. Currently main jets are 210's. Elevation is 5000 ft and temp ranges from 20 to 35 decrees Celsius. What do you guys suggest in terms of jetting? If I rem correctly the plugs are very black, but Ive only ridden around the block twice. I will need to replace the air filter, air box has 2 or 3 holes in the top. 2. Whats should the jetting be on my friends stock banshee. Only has Toomey T5's. Same elevation and climate. 3. What are the float levels on the carbs supposed to be? The one cylinder runs very nicely, float level is about 14mm, the other one seems a mm or 2 higher and it doesn't run as nicely, at least I got it running. Any suggestions concerning jetting? My bike is currently being rebuilt, im planning to be done next week sometime though. Thanks guys!! Quote
huskyohilux Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 210 mains, huh? If I'm not mistaking 220's are stock on banshee and 240's on the RD. With pipes you should be closer to 300. Maybe a little less on your elevation. You might also wanna take a look at the pilot. I guess 25 or 27,5 should do it. Get rid of the air box and get some pod filters instead. Makes it a lot easier to remove the carburetors, unless you ride a lot of mud or water that is. Also take a look at the reed valves, make sure they close properly and syncronise the carbs. Float heighth is between 15 and 17 mms. Where are you from Klaus, Germany? 20-35 celsius sound like middle east  Quote
Klaus Posted January 24, 2009 Author Report Posted January 24, 2009 Thanks for the advice! I stay in South Africa, The last while the temp went up to around 35 degrees. Im going to order a set of 290's and 27's on Monday. Im currently rebuilding the bike, should be done around Friday or so. We ride in a lot of mud, so pods are out for me. Thanks again. Quote
