official_style Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 (edited) ok i am getting ready to work on my 2 quads, both will have the same setup. motors are stock internally. timing advandce (should i go +3 or +4?) i always run 93, my gasoline always supreme lol. toomey t5s. cfm airbox, with twin UNI filters with outerwears. i run yamalube 2R. the spots i ride are at like 500-3000 ft elevation. i have the dyno jet kits from the toomey pipes, i know the needles are good, but what about the mains and pilots? sorry for not posting in the jetting forum, i just realized this after i posted it. shee4speed Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 I'd start wiyh 320 mains and work down.Stock pilots should be just fine. +4 on the tim ing. You'll prolly have to jet down on the mains at 4000 ft. Quote
official_style Posted December 7, 2008 Author Report Posted December 7, 2008 i think the toomey ones i have are 280s, so i should order up the 320, and might as well get some 310s and 300s while im ordering it. cascade a good place to order from? Quote
shee4speed Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 310 is prob.where you will be at for lower elevation with the pods.maybe 2 sizes down going to 4000 ft. Cascade is great or try Jeff at FAST. Quote
official_style Posted December 7, 2008 Author Report Posted December 7, 2008 soo give me a list of the jets i should order, and also, do i have to mess with the air screws or anything else? Quote
shee4speed Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 320's,310's,300's,290's, You already have 280's.Air screw should be good at 1.5 turns out.Needles in the middle clips. All you can do is try that out and see how shee runs. Quote
official_style Posted December 7, 2008 Author Report Posted December 7, 2008 for the airscrew, i screw it in until its flush for 0? then work from there? no need to change any pilots? Quote
shee4speed Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 Right, just dont overtighten the air screw.Just turn it in till it seats. The stock pilots will be great. Quote
official_style Posted December 7, 2008 Author Report Posted December 7, 2008 Right, just dont overtighten the air screw.Just turn it in till it seats. The stock pilots will be great. do you mean seating like so the top is flush, or seating so it stops? sorry never messed with it b4 lol Quote
AKheathen Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 do you mean seating like so the top is flush, or seating so it stops? sorry never messed with it b4 lol ha ha, get used to it. turn it in till it stops,, but not too hard like shee4speed said. 1.5 turns is a good starting point when you get jetted, but adjust them till it idles the highest when warmmed up. if you have to go much more than 1/2 turn either way, you'll have to move the needle. when you say 500-3000ft, is that riddin up a mountain, or several different spots to ride? if it's the later, you should adjust for any major altitude changes, because, that big of a difference, would make it not want to idle. ie. if you adjust for 500, and ride 3000, it'l load up with fuel at idle. the opposite, it will be a bitch to start and might stall, so keep a small screwdriver with you, or just don't ever let it idle lol. <---j/k oh yah, it might help to trim your lids and throw them on for the lower elevations Quote
AKheathen Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 just brings to mind- i think someone should markett a h.a.c. kit for these. seems like it should be easy, till you get to the choke :ermm: Quote
official_style Posted December 7, 2008 Author Report Posted December 7, 2008 yea its 2 different spots, those are like mostly where i ride. im gonna order up a bunch of jets, so i have everything i need. Quote
official_style Posted December 7, 2008 Author Report Posted December 7, 2008 explain to me what the pilot does? Quote
official_style Posted December 7, 2008 Author Report Posted December 7, 2008 interesting. these things are a little complicated lol. so i am all good with the stock pilots tho right? Quote
AKheathen Posted December 7, 2008 Report Posted December 7, 2008 interesting. these things are a little complicated lol. so i am all good with the stock pilots tho right? most likely. if you move the needle clip 1 knotch away from the blunt end and it doesn't sound zingy between 1/2 and 3/4 throttle, then you're good and can still adjust for 3000 ft, without changing the pilot. otherwise, go to 27.5. you'll have to check again when you go with more timing too. Quote
