quikshee Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 I finally got my clutch adjusted right and the only gear i can get it to roll like it's supposed in is 6th. When i pull the clutch in and shift it into 6th it rolls fine, until i start to shift down then with each gear i go down it gets harder and harder to roll. Anyone have any clue to what would cause this?? Quote

2001Stroker Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Does it lunge forward or creep when it's running and you put it in gear? If it does, then your clutch probably still isn't adjusted right. If not, I wouldn't stress over it. Roll it in neutral, not in gear with the clutch pulled. Is it a new clutch? Remember, it's a wet clutch. It has to be spinning in the oil to work right. Quote
quikshee Posted November 30, 2008 Author Report Posted November 30, 2008 (edited) I haven't tried to start it yet, just rolled it. I had to drain the oil and antifreeze so I could adjust the clutch, I never put any oil back in it in case it still wasn't right. No it's the original clutch still. Paddleboy Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 put it all together and fire her up. it is normal for it to get harder as the gears go down because of the ratio. Quote
dragbanshee Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Its OK my bike does the same thing but when its running its just fine, just the way it is. Quote
quikshee Posted November 30, 2008 Author Report Posted November 30, 2008 Ok thanks guys, when I get some more free time i'll put oil and coolant in it and try and start it. Another question for you guys, what would cause my kickstart to not grab and it to stick in the down position after i kick it? Is it just out of adjustment? Quote

Is it just out of adjustment? can you move the shaft in/out alot? could've slipped past the retainer and spring fell off dowel? did you have it apart? neutral can be hard to find sometimes when you're not rolling so that you don't accedentally catch it shifting between 1&2 Quote
T_Shee Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 yah id say you need to take that cover back off. you must of not got something right when you put the kickstarter back together. it has a spring and a little clip you have to get in the right places Quote
bbcmudtruck Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 Check to make sure the big spring on the kicker is hooked on the dowel above it. Also, make sure that you soak your new clutch fibers in ATF, and use plenty of it when you put it back together. Quote
