hercalmighty Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 Ok I'm sure I'm going to catch grief for this video so go ahead and blast me if you want. But before you guys rail me too hard let me explain how I figured out the speed. I know how far 300 feet is from were the person is standing and 300 feet is covered in 2~2.2 seconds Now I put it into a speed calculator and it came out to 92.3~100 MPH So here is the video let the bashing begin: Here is the calculator that I used to double check my math: http://www.gazza.co.nz/distance.html Quote
RIPPEN Posted November 26, 2008 Report Posted November 26, 2008 Ok I'm sure I'm going to catch grief for this video so go ahead and blast me if you want. But before you guys rail me too hard let me explain how I figured out the speed. But I will respectfully say that doesn't even look CLOSE to 90mph but hey what do I know.. RIPPEN Quote
hercalmighty Posted November 26, 2008 Author Report Posted November 26, 2008 15/41 gearing I know it dosent look like 90 but if you see the car coming the other way that is about 50 MPH to give a little perspective. Also it is on a down grade so that helps a little. Does anybody know the top speed of 2007 Rapter? Because I beat one flat out just tapping into 5th. I figuered I would post it up before someone found it on YOUTUBE and started talking ish before I could explain Quote
hercalmighty Posted November 26, 2008 Author Report Posted November 26, 2008 Just checked the gearing calculater. With my gearing and 22 inch tires I need to get 9700 rpm to reach 92.5 mph. In the gearing thread Snop stated that the calculater is off by about 6 mph so...... Quote
Trick2stroke Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Not bashing you but with your gearing you're in the low-mid 80's. Not a bad speed, I had 15/40 gearing and 22's on my banshee a long time ago and I clocked it at 84 with a police speed trap. Quote
THE GRIM RIPPER Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 I dont think using any frame of reference, to judge MPH, with that low quality of a video, is accurate whatsoever. To be anywhere close using that method you would need a high speed camera and "Photo Finish" angle (90 degree) with your points of reference in the same view. Don't you watch mythbusters? Now that I dropped some science, That thing sure doesnt look like its hitting 90 mph Quote
NYUK Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 take it to maple grove when open on a test and tune night. you will be suprised and dissapointed. Quote
hercalmighty Posted November 27, 2008 Author Report Posted November 27, 2008 I was going to try marking out 50' lines on the road and do like the cops do and time it between the two lines. You are right about the reference point in the video. I didnt ride it or take the video so I might be a little off. The only reason I said about the 300' is that I had the field surveyed for a subdivision and from were the person is standing to the blue barn is 506' and one day I got bored and tried measuring out a 300 foot drag so I know about were 300' is. Thats why I put the abouts in there and its between this time and this time. Also like I said its on a down hill, if I was coming the other way yeah no way I could hit that speed. Hey NYUK, I would love to go up to Maple Grove or down to Atco for some shits and giggles but I dont have any street tires to run. also I know if I did that I would get hooked and have to start building drag bikes and quads Quote
hercalmighty Posted November 27, 2008 Author Report Posted November 27, 2008 You can run dirt tires? About what does it cost to run? Quote
NYUK Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 atco thurs nights used to be like 15 bucks. e town like 25 bucks. it will vary. you will get your bikes exact mph. you will be out of gear by the 8th. you need a tail light, leather jacket, boots and gloves. and a helmet. just go and see.they were running jr dragsters last sunday at atco. call and find out when you can run. Quote
hercalmighty Posted November 27, 2008 Author Report Posted November 27, 2008 Cool thanks man. Might have to try it out. I have everthing but the leather jacket. Wish I could find a set of tires though Quote
