JasonsBanshee Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 (edited) So I've always ran Klotz Benol year round no matter what the temp is at 32:1 with no problems. But this Winter I am going to play it safe and not run Benol below 35 degrees. Klotz says right on their site not to run Benol below 35 degrees. So I want to change my premix oil to the best protective oil out there for winter. What do you suggest and at what mix ratio? Edited November 22, 2008 by JasonsBanshee Quote
sheerider1026 Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 AMSOIL .. i love it.. a lot f people dog it.. but i also do not have a collection of worn out cylinders and piston either.. Quote
AKheathen Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 torco gp-7. well worth it. if you get down to 0, run 40/1. it has sabilizers, in case you leave it for a few months with a full tank, you don't have to drain the old fuel. it won't separate at low temps etc..... baisically, a worry-free high performance oil. i was checkin out the castor everyone likes, tinkin of tryin it, and just laughed before i finished reading the bottle :yelrotflmao: i tore the intake, and exhaust joint on one side and ripped around for an hour that way, coming back, and no harm to the engine whatsoever. i still got a spare built, just didn't wanna tow it back outa that mess, anddidn't wanna stop ridin when i got back either baisically, i'm sold on the oil 100%, and so is half of alaska. jbooker82 Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 Why not just run Klotz Supertechniplate all year round. 80% synthetic and 20% Benol Caster oil and it stays blended at lower temps unlike striaght benol. Quote
bansheejoel Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 klotz r-50. Run it in my sleds to with zero problems. Quote
JasonsBanshee Posted November 23, 2008 Author Report Posted November 23, 2008 Yea I decided to go with the R50 at 32:1. The reason I'm going with that is their site says the R50 is an excellent oil to use for storage and it says the super techniplate is not. Not that I'm going to be "storing" it but it's nice to know it's okay if I go a few weeks without riding while it sits out in the garage in cold temps. Quote
278 Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 AKheathen, idk where you got your info. but Im at the races every weekend almost, and like 90% of them run Amsoil synthetic. Castor 927 says that it may seperate at temps lower than 35 degrees if you run race gas with a density of like .795 or higher i think it is, and they have a low temp treatment you can pour in your tank. Remember be careful when you change oils because certain oils may not be as thick which will cause burn down Quote

shanYE west Posted November 23, 2008 Report Posted November 23, 2008 Alot of guys over here use Klotz super tech on the ice... Kotz R-50 is a good oil. Alot of bikes came through our service dept. that said they used Yamalube 2-R for years and I was pretty impressed. I've ran just about every oil in the book.. they've all worked good for me. I've switched to Redline oils now. I'm very happy with it so far... Bottom line is.. Oil is purely preference.. Alot of guys run castor, amsoil, Klotz, Bel-ray, ect... and all have their positive feed backs.. and every oil has a horror story.. Was it the oils fault? probably not but most people will blame a product before themselves. Just make sure the oil is stable down the temp you'll be running in. Other then that, I think oil is oil.. pick your flavor. Quote
